Hmmm... I really need to find some "new" bands to listen to. I like dark melodic metal, maybe you can recommend some good, non-cheesy (eg Sonata Arctica ) bands I should check out?

Dark Tranquillity, Opeth and Katatonia should be the first ones in your bands-to-listen-to list Brunnis. In whatever order.

Except Pain Of Salvation should be ahead of all of those.
