When this gets going, is there anything heavier? Clip

I don't like the sound but it's totally awesome in a strange way.

Thx, heaven't heard stuff like for a long time.

(was referring to the first vid, listening to the other stuff atm...)

I thought the jam in the OP was kinda cool personally, though I could definitely see myself a) getting really sick of dubsteb if I were constantly bombarded by it, and/or b) despising it by being surrounded by the kind of people that I can imagine would love it

I loved it for about 2 months then that happened :)

When you think about it, most metal genres peaked with early bands/movements that broke it to the masses in Europe:

Napalm Death/Carcass
Bolt Thrower
Hellhammer/Celtic Frost
Venom

In USA early bands peaked
VH
Tallica
Death

It's that initial punch that is awesome in music.

The funny thing is:

John Peel was instrumental (not even a pun) in breaking early dubstep.
We know he's been tied to breaking underground/just plain awesome MUSIC like aphex twin, Prodigy, Buzzcocks, Captain Beefheart, Leonard Cohen, Tears for Fears etc etc: He almost always called it before we knew it.

So basically, this thread is me loving dubstep: But my favorite Murtallicastep album is the black album because I am late to the party and I don't care if I'm not cool about it.

Peeps who love Dubstep: Please show me the Exumer, Whiplash, Toxik equivs.

never heard of dub step. I actually kinda enjoyed it, reminds me of old amiga demos.

The thing is it is quite a cool sound, wobble bass and all the other shit is kinda cool.
But in all honesty there is very little good songwriting in the genre from what I've heard, and that's quite a bit. Like I said most of my friends listened to this stuff so I ingest quite a bit of it.
That's why I liken it to deathcore, it's a cool sound but...very popular, very generic songs and a very annoying scene.

once you get past all the same kinds of rhythms and dirty bass with glitches thrown in im not sure whats left. there is a few ok dubstep tunes, but as a genre its blown so completely out of the water that i just wish it all disappeared.

deadmau5 is cool, although the most recent album has dubstep elements to it (done badly). classic mau=progressive house=brilliant.

I like Deadmau5 and also the occasional bit of dubstep because I'd rather skank to it in a club than listen to some shitty techno or gangster rap.

That is a good mix with some cool bass sounds and cool transitions, but it really demonstrates how limited the genre is...

What are the best dub step with no vocals? I can't stand passionate oh baby male singers crooning over it.

Stop listening to dub step and listen to progressive house, relatively similar but with 4-to-the-floor without "dubs" and vocals.

Partially kidding but I can't really help you out with dubstep as its not really my forte.

To all the guys that where talking about EDM in general being boring, generic and a limited genre, its not about the creativity, the music is purposely created to be generic in terms of the basic beats and bass/chord relationships. Why? Because the music purpose is for you to groove like a moose, to be so infectious that you can't go a whole song without bobbing your head. Its music to dance to, not have intellectual or high cognitive stimulation.

Man I really don't like listening to dubstep but to call it shit is a little weird.
It's incredbly alien, but that's why it's fascinating.
It doesn't make sense, which is exactly why it makes sense.

HAHAHA, GARETH, DUDEEEEEEEEEEEEEE,

i've been looking for the right verbiage to describe how i feel about dubstep and you fucking NAILED ITTTTTTT.

It is REALLLLLY fucking brutal though, I'm not gonna lie. Especially super hard dubstep with those WICKED ass basses just KILLING your eardrums. It sounds like Men in Black music.
