When this gets going, is there anything heavier? Clip

I have to say that after listening to Skrillex's "Scary monsters..." album I'm really impressed.
Pretty amazing sound and songwriting -wise.

The bass is so mean and it somehow is a little like sounds we love, it's just top notch quality.

that's the first electrostuff I really like(exc. london elektricity, the'yre badass too)

I think there are some base structural similarities to dubstep and metal. The way the newer, more aggressive dubstep is danced to is pretty much like what you see on metal gigs as well. I'm particularily talking about nu metal, hardcore, crabcore and the kind.

When I found dubstep, it was new, fresh, aggressive in ways I haven't ever heard before, so I was instantly hooked. Even these days it's the kind of music that's "almost always good".

Right now, the genre is evolving in huge steps. To be honest, I don't really like what dubstep was that much, I like what it is right now and is becoming. Skrillex and such aren't really even dubstep anymore, as it has about as much common to dubstep as it has to the other genres it's taking its influences from.

Noboby has really invented a proper name for the new subgenre either... Only one I've heard is "brostep" which is to mock the genre and sounds incredibly retarded to begin with. :err:

drum 'n bass is awesome music as well but a lot of it tends to lack balls.

I googled a little and Skrillex was singer in From first to last and stuff like that.

Strange cause I heard really a good amount of similarity in the Synthi sounds to guitar lines...

Do you have some heads up for similar producers, sopulurn?
I like the positive and destructive sound of Skrillex.

To be honest, I'm yet to hear another producer that sounds anything like his music. There are many great dubstep producers but for me, they don't seem to be able to pull the same kind of variation musically and sonically as him.

That's probably because I don't really like traditional or chilled dubstep which doesn't have as much movement and variating parts. Skrillex is basically blending dubstep with pop and metal, which isn't new but IMO he's doing it better than anyone else.

Can't wait to see where dubstep is going.

I actually just discovered dubstep and Skrillex, and I like it, but a lot of it is pretty much the same. That being said, I also like rap music, and modern pop and hip-hop music, so what do I know?

The fuck is that bassist doing in that skrillex live band video?

Anyways, the shit Skrillex is doing with Korn is actually pretty cool

Optimus Prime doing primal screams isn't heavy?

Even if you hate it, to say the drops are not heavy at all is just showing off.

Bump

I am so tired of everyone talking about it. Everyone in my whole town has their heads up dubstep's ass and refuse to come out for a breath of fresh air.

Nevertheless, I had been a fan of metal for a very long time and I'm not new to the realm of heavy music, and when I heard a dubstep drop for the first time (I think Skrillex) I nearly crapped my pants.

Give credit where it's due, yall

I still find it weird that in this day and age, with the internet, that it took like 2-3 years for dubstep to find it's way into the US.

Also, it's still not really the music that's heavy, it's the sound.
I could fart into a cup, add loads of 60hz and it would be heavy.

I've put my creative mastermind to work exclusively for this thread..

here goes.... COCKSUCKAS

One of my friends showed me a video of a Skrillex show he was at a couple weeks ago and I was pretty amazed not with what I heard but what I saw. Seriously cool stage show with laser projectors on these crystal things (sounds dumb but damn it was sweet). My bud also says he has seen him at shows and he smashed his mac book pro at the end of his set.

Totally bored by the music tho. I can see how non-musicians and musicians alike can like it though. It's just not for me.
