This is the first and only Symphony X album I've heard and I'd like to check out some more. I lean towards the heavier stuff, so any recommendations are welcome.
Evolution is heavier than anything of TDWT I give you that, but keep in mind that the production on V is much better than that of Wings and therefore the guitar tone on V will sound heavier. V is just too power metalish for me to consider it heavier.ProgMetalFan said:Actually, I think V is the heaviest release... for some reason everyone seems to forget just how consistantly heavy and dark that album is... "Evolution", "Fallen", "Bird-Serpent War", "Egypt", "Rediscovery" are all heavier and darker than "Sea of Lies", "Eyes of Medusa" or "The Witching Hour".

Calm down boy. I wasn't talking about complexity, i'm talking about riffs and overall feel of the music. I won't even go deeper into this because i'm not in the mood to argue. Just agree to disagree.ProgMetalFan said:V is power metalish??? Are you insane? If anything... besides "A Fool's Paradise" it is the least power metalish of all Symphony X albums (with the possibly exception of "Damnation Game")... it is Symphony X's most complex and progressive work... Odyssey and Divine Wings are power metal albums... V is closer to prog... if you want power metal... try "Of Sins and Shadows", "Sea of Lies", "Out of the Ashes", "The Witching Hour", etc
and I'm not referring to "guitar tone" when I claim V is heavy... I'm referring to the dark, heavy, complex riffs and drums throughout... the songs are much more sinister than Divine Wings... which has a comic-book feel to many of its songs
I swear some people need to learn how to comprehend sentences (sorry if this sounds so harsh). Just to make this clear, I never said V was power metal, I said it was too powermetalish. In other words, it's influenced by power metal.dusro2 said:ok V is not power at all...much more complex than all the rest of there stuff.
Thank you for the worthless inputarglebargle said:All the Symphony X albums have been "influenced by power metal."
