Which album to get next?

Well, i bought my first Vintersorg album last week, "The Focusing Blur" and I love it. My favorite tunes are Curtains, A Microscopical Macrocosm, and The Essence. After I listen to this one for a while I'll be looking for a new one. What I enjoy most is the clean singing parts, and I love the clean singing over the strummed-chord guitar parts. But the parts that get me the most are the great vocal melodies, like in the chorus of A.M.M.

So...what should i get next? I am considering Solens Rotter.

Yes, I agree with you. Cosmic Genesis is a fantastic album - since the dawn of progrock for Vintersorg, it's still remains my favorite of the prog. Vintersorg. I would go for any of them really, but my personal favorite is Till Fjälls and Ödemarkens Son. Good luck with trying to find Till Fjälls and Hedniskhjärtad! The new album Solens Rötter is utterly outstanding and amazing! But, just keep on searching, you'll get them all and love them all, I promise you this!
I'm going to give you some advice though: if you somehow manage to find yourself a copy of Hedniskhjärtad, do not trade it for the world! That is soo rare!

It's rare? Hedniskhjärtad? Since when? It's still available at the Napalm Records store at least. And I'm pretty sure it's not that hard to find elsewhere. Now, if you get your hands on a Cosmic Genesis digipack or a Till Fjälls digipack.. Hold on to those two!:D Well sell the CG Digipack to me, but hold on to the Till Fjälls one!:D

Anyway you can buy all of the albums from Napalm Records at laughably low prices. While 'Hedniskhjärtad' does cost 10€, you can get Till Fjälls, Ödemarkens Son, Cosmic Genesis for 10€ as well and 'Visions from the Spiral Generator' for just 6€! The Focusing Blur (which of course you already have) costs only 5€!:O Solens Rötter, being a fresh album, goes for 12€.

mental_mercury: I'd recommend VFTSG, and CG, shouldn't be very hard to find, and at a decent price. if you really like the progressive style of his newer albums, and have never heard the older stuff, it might happen that you'll dislike them at first, because sounds really different in style, but they'll grow on you. and btw, yes, A.M.M. is an amazing song, it's my favorite on that album! :)

Cosmic Genesis digi? I head no idea it existed! you sure it's not some crappy Mexican or Russian licensed version??

cosmic genesis or visions from the spiral generator. Since you started with focusing blur, its good to work backwards to the old stuff...then buy solens rotter.

Oh yeah?
I've always thought it was rare. I have it, of course. But, I looked at a website called Amazon, and it was 133 USD for a used copy. Since then, I've always thought it was kind of rare - I've never looked on Napalm.
Stores here, don't really hold Vintersorg albums, I rarely see them! And I'm talking in Sweden! Haha.
Umm... I saw more in America than I did in Sweden, which (to me) doesn't make a lot of sense.
It is pretty hard to find a lot of Vintersorg albums in stores though, that's what I've noticed. A lot of them for some people, they have to order it somehow.

So I suppose I just had an error there. My mistake.

That sucks. It depends on the individual record stores in your area. I'm from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and I bought all my Vintersorg albums at the trendiest mall on the island. They have an extremely trendy music store (Music Zone) that has this metalhead with his own small label as its manager, so there's a metal / power metal altar for the locals.

It's the power of CAPITALISM, baby!

I suppose I will go for Cosmic Genesis or Spiral Generator, since they are closest to what I like most about Vintersorg right now. However I guess it's not an end-of-the-world decision because I will probably end up buying everything from him, as with all bands I really enjoy...

What do y'all think of Borknagar's "Origin"?

I hate Origin. There isn't a single song I like on that album. I was hoping for something along the lines of Ulver's Kveldssanger or Opeth's Damnation, but what I got, I didn't like at all.

and Borknagar's first album is an amazing record. I love it.
