Hello i'm new to this forum and metal in general. Could anyone recomend a Saxon album please? I've a few cd's by other groups eg Motorhead, Whitesnake, Megadeth, Metallica, Nickelback, Black Sabbath. I'm also interested in other groups that anyone can recommend. Thanks

If you get 'Lionheart', 'Unleash The Beast' and 'Wheels Of Steel' by Saxon, then you can't go wrong.

First of all, get rid of the Nickelback, cause they aint metal. Now get any of the following:

Queensryche-Any album up to and including "Empire"
W.a.s.p.-All good, but start with the self-titled and then get "Headless Children" and "Crimson Idol".
Primal Fear-All
Hammerfall-All
Judas Priest-Start with "Angel of Retribution", then get "Ram it Down" or "Painkiller" then work your your way back.
Iron Maiden-Any and all of the Bruce Dickinson era albums(first two are musically good but lacking in the vocals)
Bruce Dickinson-Any of the last three albums

There's many more but I'd be typing for an hour-that should definitely get you started....Oh and Saxon's "Lionheart" is outstanding as well.

OK, here's three must-have albums with three must-like bands:

Judas Priest - Painkiller <<<BUY IT, WORSHIP IT. (and Ram it Down, sure.. :p )
Saxon - Metalhead (or Unleash the Beast)
Iron Maiden - Somewhere in Time (or Fear of the Dark.. or anything when they have Bruce on vocals, as said  )

btw, I don't know if you know on which damn albums Bruce sang on

Piece Of Mind
Powerslave
Somewhere In Time
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
No Prayer For The Dying
Fear Of The Dark
Brave New World

Thanks for all the suggestions!! Very much appreciated!
Bought a few albums now:

Iron Maiden - King Edward
Motorhead - Inferno
Lemmy - Damage Case
Anthrax - The Collection
Saxon - The Collection
Guns 'N' Roses - Appitite For Destruction
Guns 'N' Rose - Use Your Illussion
Whitesnake - Greatest Hits
Metallica - Kill'em All

Well, to give you a good list: (btw, you might first want to buy some the best of-albums, they're pretty handy...)

When it comes to Priest CDs... (great way to start listening to heavy metal btw, Priest being one of the first heavy metal bands, if not the first)

Judas Priest - Angel of Retribution
Judas Priest - Painkiller
Judas Priest - British Steel
After those albums, you should love Priest, hah!

From Saxon, I would say:
Denim and Leather
Killing Ground
Strong Arm of the Law
Wheels of Steel
Power & the Glory

Well, those are the best heavy metal bands!

Dio - Holy Diver (amazing metal album!)
Rammstein is pretty easy to get into...
Blind Guardian is a nice power metal band, their easiest album must be Imaginations from the other Side
Manowar is also pretty easy to get into, ecspesially to their "new" albums: Kings of Metal, Louder than Hell, Warriors of the World.
