Okay then who has been to all three Bloodstock's thus far and which was did you enjoy the most and why?
For me

For me band wise 02 had more of my favourite bands such as BAL SAGOTH, GAMMA RAY, RETURN TO THE SABBAT, Martin doing the SKYCLAD set with ELVENKING.
03 was better for having the upstairs open.
Tell me what you think.....

This is a hard one!

I enjoyed 01 coz it was the first one and a new experience!

I enjoyed 02 coz it had two of my fave bands on the bill....Gamma Ray and Blind Guardian! Also, it was the first year we had the Rock Society so I could hassle Lee in the Signing Room!!

I enjoyed 03 because PQ, Edguy and Masterplan played and I spent loads of time chatting to people who I knew from the boards here on UM and generally meeting people and discussing all things metal!

I think I enjoyed this last one the best but it's difficult to say! :)

Well, I saw my favourite band for the first time in '03 (Nightwish), so it shall always remain a special memory. However, in terms of the overall bill '02 was the best year for me, even if Bal-Sagoth played the shittest set of their career. ;)

i think im going to have to go for 01- probably cuz it was the first.
also cuz area 54 played,BLAZE, SAXON and ofcourse Deeds, with several other bands in between was good.

This year was fab cuz of blaze saxon paradise lost and well cuz it was two days but stuff like the shops were pants- tho at the same time good cuz it meant i spent less :p
And this year there was an even bigger group of us, and i had me loverly RW with me :D

Last year was awesome cuz of gamma ray.

hmm sod it all of them have had their good moments. :headbang:

Highlights of 01. Primal Fear, Blaze, Saxon & Shadow Keep.

Highlights of 02. The mighty Gamma Ray (best ever performance at a bloodstock), Blind Guardian, Freedom Call, Infobia, Threshold, Diamond Head.

Highlights of 03. Edguy, Masterplan, Power Quest, Mercury Rain, Nightwish, Saxon & Blaze.

03 probably the best because it being over 2 days and meeting so many cool people. I still think Gamma Ray have put on the best ever performance by a bloodstock band.

Here's My Top Ten Bloodstock Performancers

1. Gamma Ray (02)
2. Primal Fear (01)
3. Edguy (03)
4. Freedom Call (02)
5. Blind Guardian (02)
6. Masterplan (03)
7. Power Quest (03)
8. Mercury Rain (03)
9. Saxon (01)
10. Blaze (01)

My top ten idea should be a thread on it's own

Bal-Sagoths set would have been fine if the sound was ok, I chatted to primordial some time after and they too were dissapointed with the sound quality. Great shows by both bands anyway though! (apart from the lack of swords and war paint from bal sagoth)

'01 was a brilliant way to start, with Saxon, Blaze, Orange Goblin and Glenn Hughes all being awesome.

'02 I missed as the line up wasn't too hot and there were some better bands around at the time that I wanted to see. Wish I had gone now though!

'03 was just brilliant. Some brilliant bands and some crap ones, but the atmosphere in the place and the sheer quantities of booze drunk, just made the whole weekend the best so far. Met loads of great people as well, and saw some of the funniest mullets ever.

I did enjoy Bal Sagoth, I don't remember noticing any sound prob's. I know whay you mean about that pathetic Batman cap & bomber jacket. I thought Skyclad were awsome in 01 as it was Mr W's last gig with them.

:Spin: Can't choose between any because they are all special for different reasons!

01 - because it was new, you could almost taste the excitement and blaze and primal fear were amazing! Knew it was gonna be something special - felt good to be there at the start.

02 - because Infobia played a blinder opening second stage - was soooooo excited about that - might even have been more nervous than the band.
AND because Freedom call followed by Gamma Ray were awesome because they enjoyed themselves so much. Deeds and balance of power were two more that impressed. Plus the metal market was high quality and rock soc started.

03 - cool people - met so many!!!!! The warm-up gigs made it special and, in a way, warmed me up for the whole thing. The friday night and saturday day worked really well - not too tired and both were different enough not to get complacent. The performances were cool too - edguy who I loved before with gamma ray a couple of years ago really played to the crowd well -as did masterplan. Plus, powerquest who seem to hav grown in stature and excelled their performance two nights previous! And the thrill of hearing something for the first time that really gets me excited - Illuminatus!! lol Headliners Nightwish made me want to go out and buy their stuff too.

02, definately. The mighty Bal-Sagoth played! Bring them back for 04, with woad, swords and armour!

Also we had Blind Guardian, Freedom Call, Return to the Sabbat, and the next best thing to Elvenking - Walkyier performing the Skyclad set.

Been to em all and really had a great time at every one . It is great to see the names of bands appearing in the UK that would never have until Bloodstock happened. If I had to be pinned down on a particular moment it would have to be the hour of Primal Fear at 01...............immense!!. A turning point I think for German Metal , they are coming here again.
