You know how people in modern societies love to pretend like they actually cared about celebrities they never met yeah. How people cried rivers for weeks over Michael Jackson's death, or in the metal community how anything remotely Dimebag is drenched with "RIP" messages.
Well there are plenty of classic people out there still. Imagine when James Hetfield dies, the absolute shitstorm. The internet might stop working for, you know, a couple of months worldwide.
Who's the single individual who'll absolutely break the internet ?

There is going to be a shit storm when Hetfield dies?
I must remember to get some flowers, roses love a good fertiliser.

I'm thinking Ozzy would be at the top of the list.
oh...
oh... dear lord, hadn't even thought about that one... just imagine when that happens. Yeah, that might be the one. Him or James Hetfield because he's more current and has touched the newer generation more. The US military might need to get involved when that happens.

Well, I wasn't thinking literally a shitstorm, I was using more of a poetic image there. For emphatic effect, you know. But come to think about it yes, there might perhaps be an actual shit storm when he passes away. Like some kind of biblical catastrophe.

I think you could write headlines and articles for websites like Metal Injection and TV shows like TMZ. None of the people mentioned here are going to break the internet or stop the world when they die especially not Hetfield. It's understandable that some people will be upset, but let's not overplay it, for the majority it wont even make a blip on their radar. Dio's death didn't cause world devastation, Lemmy's death didn't throw the world out of orbit, people got sad and moved on with their own life.

Here's a somewhat dark/pretty funny one: how about Jason Newsted ?

I think the hypocrisy from the metal crowds will take on a different form there: as guilt for collectively never really liking him, the metal fanbase worldwide will carry out an emotional revisionism and pull out a distinct quality about the man as a way to look back with a heavy heart, perhaps a working angle here would be the oppressed/neglected tag. Sth like... Oh Jason, RIP. I never met you but I call you by your first name and I miss you and well you weren't really one of my Top 5.. or.. maybe even Top 50 bassists, in fact you were downright insignificant to me effectively but oh you were always the misunderstood soul in that Metallica lineup and I feel for you and for that I'm an outstanding person so like this post you bastards LIKE IT

Umm...how about Batio ? Will people pull out the greek mourner tragedy theatrics or will he just be swept under the rug for being a poser ?

I wonder if there's a way to cash in on all this. Maybe a YouTube channel with tribute videos for the beloved deceased, with some random emotional powerballad in the background. Or just making a prototype T-shirt for every metal celebrity still alive with RIP YOU WERE THE BEST [something] OF ALL TIME YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN and when that guy passes away you pull out the shirt and mass produce it and promote the shirts on that mourning YouTube channel with the shitty metal powerballads.

Malmsteen, in that case. The guy practically invented the modern concept of metal shredding and Europower metal all by himself.

But what will Kerry King and Corey Taylor's reactions be?
definitely greek mourner level. Possibly North Korean level.

hehe I don't know how the metal community's going to react as a whole to Malmsteen's death. I mean apart from the kitsch fkng tributes, that's always going to be there, I think a lot of people have long buried the guy. Are one-trick ponies that celebrated when they die ?? Not sure.
