Tell the truth.

I am, but that probably doesn't surprise anyone. The church I attend typically rents out the local "Community Center", which is Tucson's single largest event arena. I saw Metallica and Ozzy there in the 80's. Each year the church rents the place and puts on a huge service with free parking.

I always complain about people who do the American 'easter and christmas only' thing, so I'm not gonna do that myself and be stupid. Not that there are that many good churches around here anyway. Not that I even have the same interpretation of the holiday that the whitebread mainstream does. :p Eh.

My father will be playing this with full brass tomorrow morning. The music was one part of Easter I still miss.

I am, but then I'm a regular attender when I'm home... tend to lapse when I'm at uni. Sunday mornings are my sleep time... Anyway its my Dad's last Easter service at this church, which he's been at for 16 years (anglican priest), so I'd kinda have to go if I didn't want to anyway...

I won't be and I think it will be the first time I won't be attending an Easter service with my family. I will go to Xmas as the entire family is together then and it's always been tradition.

Look into the Pagan origins of Christian holidays.

edit: @ Savern: I don't really classify myself as anything other than someone who has a very strong personal relationship with the God of the Bible. My take on the contents of the Bible is quite different than Christianity in a lot of ways, a big one being I don't believe "Jesus" started a new religion.

Interesting, cheers. He didn't, you're right... he more sort of pointed a current one in a different direction. You've got the Disciples and Paul to thank for Christianity... I'm not a massive fan of the organised church as it is in its current state, but oh well this is off topic.

...

I started looking into them. But in reality it doesn't much matter. We celebrate a specific event on a given day. I would think you know better than to judge a man based on the value he places on a given day, just as he should not judge another for not placing the same value on that day.

I can't judge per se, but I recommend at some point you look into the pagan origins of a lot of stuff in Christianity that came from the amalgamation of Catholicism.

Yeshua (Jesus) celebrated Passover/the Feast of Unleavened Bread (that's what the "Last Supper" was) so that is good enough for me.

If you want to take this over to the Philosopher forum I think we can have a quick discussion on this.

im not christian, so i wont be going on sunday. however the church my scout troop meets at is having a bon fire vigil and the troop was asked to set it up. i may or may not go to that. i've never seen a bon fire for easter and this sort of ceremony kind of interests me.

religious ceremony has always fascinated me, and this could be interesting...
