Pretty clear that no one in this thread knows what they are talking about.

you win this thread if you can make it to the acoustic section without laughing or stopping the video.

Fyfe Dangerfield is probably the best vocalist around at the moment. - absolutely amazing.

Sam Beam has a good case though - the emotion he puts into every song is breathtaking. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEID8ynap8w&feature=related[/ame] - sublime.

Favourite singers/vocalists in no order:

Jonas Renkse (Katatonia)
Ian Curtis (Joy Division)
Andrew Eldritch (The Sisters of Mercy)
Garm (Ulver/Arcturus)
Silenius (Abigor/Summoning)
Lord Worm (Cryptopsy)
David Sylvian (Japan/solo)
Jaz Coleman (Killing Joke)
Peter Gabriel (solo)
Morrissey (The Smiths/solo)
Akhenaten (Judas Iscariot)
Imperial (Krieg)
Robert Smith (The Cure)
Justin Broadrick (Godflesh/Jesu)
Siouxsie Sioux, a REAL FEMALE VOCALIST!!!! none of that operatic shit

My favorites right now are Jonas Renske, because he has so much emotion in his voice, Mikael Akerfeldt, for being both totally evil and beautiful at the same tame, Hevy Devy for just being insane, and Damian Wilson, who I think has a really nice and distinctive tone as well as crazy range and power.

It's hard to make a selection, but here we go.

Russell Allen (Symphony X)
Steve Perry (Journey)
Mikael Akerfeldt
James Labrie (Dream Theater) (before his vocal cord rupture)
Ella Fitzgerald
Elton John
Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering)
Daniel Gildenlöw (Pain of Salvation)
Billie Holiday
