Who knows how "Live the Island Years" was recorded?

I know the first part is a live concert and the later is live in a studio for a radio show.

On the first part, is this a soundboard recording or did they mic the master mix like a bootleg? It actually sounds like the later to me. It doesn't have a lot of post production, has a little too much reverb, and doesn't sound like they had a track by track to master down.

It's still a pretty good listen, however.

I don't know anything about record production, but the album was released after they left Island Records and after John joined the band. This would explain the lack of band involvement and production. Plus, Anthrax wouldn't have called their live album Live, the Island Years by choice, I would think.

As i have read before from various sources it fulfilled the island contract. But was the live album not in the planning stage anyway before john joined the band as joey kept on telling all that they were doing 'a live video and a live album, and your all here and a part of that shit' on the album

they are workin on a new one "Live, a week with ArtistDirect!!!"

It was meant to be a live album, I guess. But from what I have heard, Scott and co. are not happy with that one, and thez don|t want to be associated with it.

I have never got it because Scott has said that he was not happy with it and he never wanted it released or for people to buy it.

Hell, it's really not that bad at all. The band does have it on their website after all. It is the only full length live release. It's worth having. Mine was only $4.50 used, shipping included.

I remember when the N.F.C. Bulknikufesin Newsletter said the band was working on a live album. I bought "Live- The Island Years" when it first came out.
I guess I didn't know any better.

When the album was released (04/94) Charlie and Frankie were on HBB and Rikki asked them about it and they were like "we didn't have nothing to do with it, it's the record company" And that is all they said. It's just the audio from the Live Noize video w/ some live in the studio stuff at the end.

Well take that as being from me and not from the band. Though it is their site, so I guess they're stuck with it. :heh: I put Moshers in there too and Charlie did not know about that fucking thing until I told him. I'm going to put all those other shitty ass compilations up there when I get a chance. Next week maybe?
Really though, it's not a bad album. Just drink some and imagine it's John singing.
