Why can't I get my avatar back????????

I tried changing it (deleted the one I had before) and I keep getting this message:

There has been an error in the upload. Please ensure that the file has been correctly selected and that the upload has taken place successfully.

What am I doing wrong? the file is the correct size too.

Yes, but she said she edited the pic (it obviously has to be smaller) so she should host the edited file in her website and use the URL in her avatar options.
