Why did Rullo cut his hair?

There's DEFINATELY a correlation between hair length and ability to make good metal. Fortunately, it only counts if most of the band cuts their hair, so we're still in the safe zone and SX will be completely unaffected.

Thank the GODS for majority rule. Especially that rule. We all know that long ass hair is one of many ways to signify a Metalhead. Fortunately, its only one of many ways. Luckily, the rest of the band still has long hair.

I was looking at the booklet for V the other day, and thought to myself: "Hmm... Is it me, or do Mike LePond, Mike Pinella and Jason Rullo all look similar, when LePond has no beard?"

Also, what do you think Jason Rullo is actually saying about this thread? These are all just thoughts.

I think LePond and Pinnella look a bit similar but Rullo looks whole lot different.

Threads about hair just aren't metal.

Since metal exists, hair has always been a big part of it,you can read it in every book of Heavy Metal history (I have a really big one at home:grin: ).
I don´t believe the length of the hair influences at all the ability of playing, but since in music business that you want it or not, image is a big part, you can expect that if a member or a whole METAL band decides to cut their hair, that will affect inevitably their way of proposing themselves to the fans.

support music, not rumors.

but do remember: long hair is not just a haircut, it's a statement.

Probably something like "Damn, our fans really need to get a freakin' life.."

Definitely! However, I know that once the new cd comes out we'll all be too busy going on about how wonderful it is to be bothered with contemplating haircuts.

If it is, it's surely one of conformity if you think it's not metal without it.

it's not a question of being metal, it's a way of taking distance from the manners and expectations of the society. i wouldn't say that you leave those thoughts behind if you cut your once long hair, but I havn't met one always-short-haired-musician that share my thoughts about life and what you do with it.

its always the metalheads with short hair that say hair doesn't matter :D

Honestly though, both sides make a point. One obviously doesn't sacrifice their musicianship, songwriting, etc. when they change their appearance other than maybe a change of self esteem. Its been proven that the better you feel about how you look the more that is reflected in other parts of your life, confidence, etc. so I guess it could have an effect that way, although who changes their look drasticly to feel worse about themselves? If anything, a metalhead who cuts his hair is probably doing it cause he likes the way he looks more that way.

But, the fans do like to see people "look" the part, as does the industry as well. Its almost like a job uniform. Could you imagine a cop who decided to wear a clown suit instead of a blue uniform? Ok maybe thats a bit extreme but you get my point. Doesn't change how good of a cop he is, but the right "look" counts as well.

However, you can look really metal and badass without having long hair. I've seen plenty of intimidating bald and short haired metal dudes, and likewise, I've seen plenty of longhairs that look like pussies. As long as the attitude is reflected, thats what counts.

I just hope he doesn't start to wear scarf on his head like nightwish drummmer does, that's like the most cliche thing, lol

god no, he should wear the scarf around his neck, like Ian Haugland from Europe in "The Final Countdown"-video! way to go ;)
