Why did Rullo leave?

Thomas Miller deserves more praised. Hell, noone in the metal community knows who he is! Almost noone. This guy was a blinding virtuoso, he made the bass sound like cello! And he contributed to the songwriting a lot. He wrote the lyrics to Candlelight Fantasia. I rest my case.

It is interesting to think about where the band would be if Miller hadn't quit. The songwriting would've most likely taken a different shape. I'm not saying there wouldn't have been an Odyssey(even though the idea was LePond's suggestion; it would've been a different Odyssey to be sure though).

But then you wouldn't have the guitar-centered groove oriented tracks like "Wicked" either.

So it all depends how you look at it.

But LePond has come up with some really rich, melodious sounds from his bass i.e. the beginning of "Awakenings".

And you never know, Miller could've hit a creative wall too and may not have been able to add further songwriting. But with a man like Romeo(who inspires creativity with every note he pens), this probably isn't true.

Being a bassist myself, I loved Miller's playing. But Lepond is an absolute powerhouse and I love his playing too so it's win win for me. Does anyone know for sure whether Miller is doing anything musically at all? It's a hell of a waste of talent if he isn't.... :goggly:

Yeah and the worst thing is the reason why he quit. It wasn't because of a conflict with the others, it was a psychological thing. It's so sad.:waah: But as I already said, Mike L is a very worthy replacement. It's just tragic that Miller isn't getting any recognition for his amazing playing skills.

This is sort of a tanget, but Rullo's Myspace says he is in New Mexico now? Is that correct, or is it a fan page?

Also, Rullo had a pretty cool webpage a while back, and now it's gone...

I couldn't agree more. Miller was a good songwriter in addition to a top player. It makes someone like him difficult to replace. It says a lot about Lepond as a player, that he was able to step in and replace him.

All i have to say about this whole thing is

Without Russell, Mike L, and Jason the bands isnt as good.

the way Russell sings over MJR's riffs is amazing, the way Jason and Laponde play together is magic. Their best stuff is with this line up hands down.
