Forcing things down people's throat is definitely NOT the reason radio stations play songs as often as they do. That's just what people who hate radio want to believe. These pop bands are fed down listener's throats from radios and MTV/MuchMusic. Mainly people become fans only based on those one or two songs... without EVER hearing another song by them. Its disgusting.
Take a "Pop" radio station. Like Vancouver's "The Beat 94.9."
You hear the same "Akon" song, Fergie song, and Justin Timberlake song, every hour. EVERY HOUR. And you hear it, every hour, of every day, of every week, for several months. Eventually people are going to be like, "okay this actually isn't that bad... Or be in my situation and start destroying stuff everytime it comes on at work. Today I happened to break another speaker at work... I think they're starting to get the point.
I fail to see why this is even a problem.
Don't like them, don't buy a CD and don't talk about them.
Wonderful music will always be made, you just gotta find it and ignore whatever mainstream/blah-blah nonsense is being touted around by big labels at the moment. I find that getting anxious about it is pretty stupid.
In 40yrs nobody will give a damn about Avenged Sevenfold and that is enough for me not to give a damn about them just now.
Except for Iron Maiden, Rush, Dream Theater, Judas Priest, maybe a couple of other bands.
