Hey guys,
There seems to be this wierd kind of low rattling in all of my screaming vocal recordings, that I never hear on any vocals recorded with an SM7B. They also aren't present "in the room", only on recording.. Here's an example: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/liztyruz8psaxej/vox2013.mp3
I'm using a 60 € tboner condenser mic from thomann...
Are condensers just not suited for this style of vocals?

Post a solo clip, no processing. It's hard to tell what's happening, but it sounds like a combination of poor vocal technique and being too close. I personally would just use a dynamic like a 57 on these kinds of vocals.

I think it's just your technique.

The bassist of my band sounds a bit like that, and it takes a bit of work to take out the artifact you're describing.

In my case, I've also found that double-tracking helps to smoothen it out.

I'm not shure if I should try it with the "pure vocal fry"... But that's just quiet as fuck right now, and if I'm pushing more air, I have to cough.
