Will Symphony X ever come to Australia?

Best chance as far as minimising travel expenses go would be getting them on the back of a Japanese or Asian tour.

SymphonyX being based on the US east coast wouldn't help either. :(

Yeah I would do that if I wasnt 16 lol.

yeah a few years down the track (tour of the new NEW album?) i'd been keen to fly somewhere to go seem them ;D for now i just plug the band to everyone i can but sadly it's generally not the kind of music that most people can just listen to and really enjoy it straight away >_< except for some songs of course.

I think only musicians can relaly enjoy it (just from what I have noticed) the different time signitures makes it hard for people to listen to and get into becuase everyone is used to 4\4 timing, people like music that is easy to listen to. THats jus what I think.

I grew up listening to Rush, I'm actually more used to odd time sigs than constant 4/4.

Well that is also part of it, depends what you grew up on. But the general public are force feed 4/4 timing music everywhere and its easy to comprehend in the mind and easier to listen to. Us humans are lazy and we dont like things to be harder, when it can be done easy. Offcourse this is not true for everyone.

I agree with that statement wholeheartedly, I have tried showing people something like SyX and they admit yes the band members are talented but they just cant get into it because there is just too much going on at any one time in a song. I find it very rare to encounter someone who appreciates complicated music like I do :(

Yeah it sucks, thats what I love about the music, becuase there is so much going on that every listen I discover somthing I didn hear last time. I am constantly entertained by it, becuase its not repetative and dosent have the same sounds going the whole time.

not kidding you, I spent one full year listening to nothing but SyX (I mean constantly, practically 24/7) because I would get hooked on one part and have to just hear it over again for a while, then all of a sudden another part would jump out at me and the process starts all over again, then add in how many songs these guys have. I think I've chosen every single song at some point as being a favourite. Does that make me a freak? :loco: I'm still waiting to find another person to share in my appreciation of this band (around where I live that is, thats why I like the forum, at least I know theres others out there somewhere who understand)

I hate people like that, because they seem so stupid to me.

 but theyre everywhere! Theres no escape! (from stupid people) I especially hate going to a club (ok I hate clubs for the stupid pop music they play too, yeesh) or meeting someone for the first time and asking what music theyre into - as I automatically do, coz lets face it, I want a metalhead - and their response is "everything". Thats an immediate dismissal in my books.

Yeah I am also like that. You just hear somethings that make you go crazy, then you discover more. I love it!!

Thank god I have a metalchick GF lol

I would murder my GF if she was one of those Rap and R n B chicks. I just dislike there attitude, in general, but its even worse when it comes to music.

my last bf was metal (though before meeting me he was into mainstream rubbish. luckily I turned him onto the edguy and arch enemy etc really quickly). I dont know if I will be able to find another metal guy in this particular 'bogan' town, I may have to move again in another couple of years back to a major city.

So hang onto your metal gf's, coz if you lose them you never know when you will get to find another one. Frankly the searching process is too much damned work!
