Windsor fx loop and impulses on standby mode

Hi guys

Im sorry if this have been asked before. I tried but didn't find anything about this.

At the moment I have no cab and I've seen that some of you standby the amp heads and send the fx loop signal to the sound card to use impulses.

Do you know if this is possible with the peavey windsor?

It doesn't work with the Windsor. And also, as the fx send level is controlled by the master volume, you need it very loud to get a decent preamp signal level (read: ear-splitting level ).

You do get a signal even at lower master levels, but it will sound like having you passive guitar pickup almost on mute.

Btw, here's how mine sounds (stock tubes and no mods, into Fireface 400) with a Mesa impulse (forgot which), and no post-processing on the guitars (double tracked, plus single lead, all with Schecter 007 Blackjack with Seymour Duncan JB passive):

How did you connect the Windsor to your interface? Sounds great!

Guitar -> Windsor -> Windsor FX Send -> Interface -> DAW -> Impulse

With the cab connected I guess? Read somewhere that it's bad to have your head powered up without a cab?

Cab connected, of course. Like I said, you need to have the Windsor fully on to get a preamp signal from the FX loop.

If you liked the Windsor, check out the JCA20H. It kicks my Windsor's ass in so many ways, and it's a great amp for modding.
