Are Arwen even still around...I cannot find the second disc anywhere. Magica are also another great fantasy themed female fronted band. People say they are like Rhapsody...I dont hear it, but they are really good.

Nice choices here, Tiamat, Entwine, Crematory:headbang:

Tiamat would be (Green Carnation) fantastic...

(oh sorry for the subliminal message... haha I was listening to them this morning and fact is.... GC rule!):worship:

But I say VOTE FOR LOVE... Tiamat would be very cool.:kickass:

How about Voivod? The band has hinted at a possible tribute show in the near future with guest guitarists filling in for Piggy.

You can't even remotely call yourself a prog-metal fan if you do not worship at the altar of the mighty VOIVOD!

Anyone can call themselves a prog-metal fan and not worship or better yet not even like Voivod:ill: , which by the way, i don't particularly care for them.

What do you consider Progressive, just so we can clearify and not make wrong assumptions...?

Well, just to simplify, Voivod, esp from Killing Technology and beyond, began to incorporate proggy elements into their fierce brand of thrash metal. Way before its time, in my opinion. They took thrash to a whole new level.

I have to agree with you. But I am not so sure if their entire discography has these characteristics, does it? I can't say I know their entire career, however what I heard didn't impress me (and did not progress) at all. (Not that progmetal means metal that necessarily progresses...lol... I said that cause it sounded cool...LOL)

Day 1:
Symphony X
Nocturnal Rites
At Vance
Cloudscape
Lunatica

Day 2:
Iced Earth
Dream Evil
Lordi
Sinergy
Brother Firetribe

I like Voivod. But yes. They aren't the best song constructionists in my opinion. As with many proggy bands (they were progressive thrash)... the singing just often didn't seem to fit within all their various chords <shrug>. I still like them.

I own a few of Voivod disks... My favorite is still Dimension Hatross so that tells you a bit about what I think about the progression of this band. But They are definitely cool.
