I've created a new webseries called Power Metal Point - a sort of college lecture about the culture of metal. Tarja and Nightwish garner a number of mentions in this video about the roles women occupy within heavy metal:

I like your informative voice. Reminds me of watching tutorials for work.

Also, you shared a lot that I did not know. Although I'm not sure listening to female-fronted bands is the only avenue into metal. I started with Black Sabbath and Metallica, then jumped right into Nightwish.
 
^True, but I do think the femme-metal genre is a great way to ease someone into metal who is not really familiar with the genre. Female voices, to most, are "inoffensive", so hearing such lovely vocals with the heavy music does bring a sort of comfort level to those who would not be as willing to check out metal if they were introduced to it by way of, say, Cannibal Corpse. :lol:
