I was listening to Underworld yesterday, and I absolutely love it. I can't help but wonder, though, how it will translate to a live setting. This type of music really seems to want elaborate sets and theatrical effects (at least in my mind). What sort of stage show, if any, do you suppose we'll be seeing at PPV?

Here are some reviews and photos of their recent French tour - there doesn't seem to be anything fancy in terms of stage set Alicia,

This may be a silly question but, I'm assuming David Readman will be there singing for Adagio? Got the new Pink Cream 69 which is great! He has a great voice!!

I get a very obvious Symphony X vibe from Adagio. Which is fine, nothing wrong with that. So perhaps their set will be somewhat like a Sym X show... but without the Russell Allen.

Yes, David is very much part of the band and he will be there! I haven't heard the new PC69 (on my list to get) but I am sure it kicks ass! David is a great vocalist, not flashy from what I hear but he can belt it out with the best of them. It is the entire band from Underworld less the drummer Dirk who stepped down however the new drummer, Eric I hear is amazing in his own right!

Can't wait to see this band!!!! ;)

I don't think Stephan would say that he is not influenced by Romeo or Symphony X however I hear a lot of differences with Adagio then I do with SX. Don't get me wrong, I love SX, one of my favorite bands but I feel that Adagio can more then hold their own against them or anyone else in this genre. Both bands have amazing singers albeit I more fond of Allen's voice but that is not taking away anything from David. Adagio at times might be more symphonic then SX and their songs are a little more direct then actually story telling. Either way, you put SX and Adagio together on a tour and I will go ape shit to see them! :)

I expect to see the band on the stage with their instruments, and possibly a banner behind them that reads "Adagio". I'm not sure if you've had a chance to attend previous ProgPowers, but most bands bring nothing in terms of their own stage show. It's all about the music.

Glenn or someone in the know can correct me if I'm wrong, but i was under the impression that beyond a very minimal level of stage decoration, the bands were not ALLOWED to bring much of a stage show. I recall this specifically, combined with Rock 'n' Rolf's statements in a long ago interview about never playing when he couldn't bring the full show, making several people very pessimistic about Running Wild ever playing ProgPower, which is where the discussion about this came up last time.

And before anybody starts complaining, Glen's policy on this is one of the main reasons that PP manages to stick to the schedule pretty well, as opposed to many other festivals where things can be running several hours late by the time the last band of the day hits the stage. I'm with Zod, I care more about the music; besides a good band with a good stage presense doesn't need much else to put on a good show, just look at so many of the past PP performances.

Thanks for the replies! Yes, I've attended every PP so far (and don't plan to miss any in the future either!). I didn't mean to imply that I was expecting something other than what's been presented in the past, only that the music seems to want a bit of theatrics. But I'm sure they will be just fine without anything elaborate - Symphony X always has been :)

And speaking of SX, I can certainly see similarities but I can also see differences. I don't think I'd call Adagio a SX clone. (I mean really, can ANYONE duplicate the fabulous Russell Allen? I think not.)

I have no idea what Glenn's policy is regarding bands bringing secondary lighting and stage equipment. Based soley on what I've witnessed at previous PPs, it doesn't seem that bands bring much if any equipment. I certainly wouldn't expect a band in Adagio's time slot to bring much in the way of their own equipment.

I wouldn't call them a "clone", but they do come dangerously close to that line at times.

From what I can recall, Kamelot had the most elaborate stage show out of any band that I saw since PP 2? If I remember correctly, they had some type of hologram flame or something like that, plus a few other cool stage props.
