World Cup

Brazil winning is more likely than ever, with virtually every other major team either on the decline or recently recovering from a decline. Otherwise, the Czechs, or possibly (hopefully) England.

not england, they play power football and I don't like that

You realise Brazil have only got like 4 world class players right? Carlos, Ronaldhino, Cafu and Ronaldo, and the latter two are, aruguabley, passed it.

England on the other hand is a team made up of players who play a hell of a lot of European football.

In truth there's about 8 teams that can win this, which is England, Brazil, Germany (Khan!!!), France, Italy, Holland, Argentina and Spain. England are better than Spain, slightly better (with luck) than Argentina and Holland, more or less on par with Germany and the rest of the rest of that 8 are better than us, no doubt about that.

Like I say, international football a lot of the game's about skill, but you also have to have a shit load of luck. England's got a better, stronger team than it's had in years, probably since Euro '96, Paul Robinson for example, the first world class goal keep England's had since Seaman.

England has every chance of winning this.

Brazil has Dida as a keeper, way better than Robbinson and they have Kaka, ronaldihno, robinho, and many other good players which all play Champions League

Kahn does not play, Jens Lehmann does. Ballack too is a bit overrated and yesterday Neuville and Odonkor showed once again that they are quite an aweful duo.
England's first play was a bit weak but I think they have got good chances anyway.
France played a remis against Switzerland that's emberassing. Same with Brazil. IMO Ronaldo does only play since he is the best source for money for the Brazilian team but he really is too old now and should stop playing.
Holland is a hard opponent but they've never won the world cup I would not begrudge the cup to them.
Spain and Czech kind of surprised me. I have always considered Spain to be an average team but they beat Ukraine 4-0!! Czech Republic won 3-1 against the USA which is not that surprising but it shows that they are still in form and have good chances to win aswell.

There is this German band called Sportfreunde Stiller and they show us that Germany has to win the cup because of this formula:
74 * 54 - 1990 = 2006 :)

I'm aware, however Khan is still in the squad and is still a better keeper than most, at 38!

Germany played awfully against Poland, they should have won that at least 2-0 however at no point until the Krauts scored was I ruling out the possiblity of a Polish victory. Borus showed some amazing skill.

We all know England should have won their first two games 3 nil easily, but they're just not putting the effort in. Wheather or not that's because they didn't have to is something we'll find out on June 20th.

I haven't watched anything from France yet, but I heard the Switzerland game was pathetic. And Brazil - Croatia? What the fuck happened there? They should have thrashed Croatia.

If you think Ronaldo is too old, you must have reservations about Cafu? Besides which Ronaldo is looking a little porky these days.

I always enjoy watching Holland play right from back in the Berkamp days. Van Nistleroy scores a lot, but against the like of Argentina (who they will have to play in the quarters because the winner and runner up of group D, which looks like it will be Mexico and Portugal at his point, will lose to Holland and Argentina respectivley) they'll lose.

Mexico was an hilarious defeat, suggesting they would get through to the last four without much bother and only managing a goalless draw against Angola.

A country which is still recovering from a generation of civil war, has never won an Olympic medal and who's team is mostly made up of unsigned players who practice on their own time. Joad Ricardho won't be writing any papers on the finer art of gaold keeping anytime soon, but he did his job.

I always considered Spain a pretty good side similar in prowess to like of Holland at least and Ukraine isn't a great feat but still 4-0 is a good score for any team. Czech Republic are a good team, not in the top echelons of international football, but probably somewhere around the same level as Croatia or Poland.

Hmmm we'll see, Germany and England will meet sooner or later, and neither team has played it's best yet, I think there is a lot left to see. Only time will tell.

Ronaldo deserves respect although he's definitly not one of my fave players, he has done so much already for Brazil, I know he used to be better but he's putting in some effort again to loose weight (currently lost 10 kilograms already) but it's hard to get back on track with everybody constantly braking him down.

Brazil shouldn't have finished Croatia off cuz Croatia wasn't that bad.

Ghana finaly won, they deserved it.
Italy on the other hand sucks big time, I would expect more from a team like that, did any of you see what Di Rossi did? That's a freaking schandal, I can't he deserves to be suspended for the rest of the Cup.

True, the lad's still a better athlete than I'll ever be.

Yea but the point is it's still Brazil, technically the best side in the world versus a not brilliant European side. On paper Brazil should have thrashed them, but hey deserve the respect you're giving them.

I was both amazed and impressed by this, I definetly see African teams being where international footabll is going, after being dominated by South American and European teams for nearly 50 years.

With less and less civil wars and famines occuring in Africa, or at least South Africa more and more nations have a lot more time and money to put into stuff like sport.

The match against the Us wasn't good for either side, not through bad play but just through bad sportsman ship, it's was almost like it wasn't just a game.

Rayner and McBride always play well for the US but they're the only wolrd class players they have, Italy's is Totti and the rest are so so.

As for Di Rossi it simply wasn't on, a total band from this world cup wouldn't be a bad idea.

Yeah, I wonder when they're gonna start of good, the match against the Aussies was bad too, maybe they're just taking this too easy.

Exactly, the African teams are really getting better the past and next few years. I'm supporting Togo at the moment, they just had bad luck, today again against Swiss (2-0 loss) but the referee was against them, they had to have a penalty and then the match would've been very diffrent

Uhu, but I'm not only refferring to the match agains the US, I meant the first one too. I think they're taking this too light too, just like Brazil.

US also has Donovan and Baisly, I think they're better than Rayner and McBride. Italy on the other hand has many great players, not only Totti.
