Worst Album of 2002- that one actually purchased?

In terms of money spent, worst:

14.99$
Iced Earth - Horror Show (I'm pretty sure that was in 2002)

best:

.99$
Grip Inc. - Power of Inner Strength (tape)

yeah that Iced Earth was pretty bad- although i thought it was last year it came out- I liked Dracula though- and Steve digiorgio was very good on it

1. lyrics
2. production (no bass)
3. lyrics
4. song writing
5. for a band that claims to be thrash, a boring power metal cd
6. jon
7. the phantom opera ghost
8. jon's current patriotic attitude

I think that a lot of people have went under that transformation. Sometimes it's to the level of facistism. A lot of people probrably think i'm psyco 'cause of my new-found pride of my viking and native american heritage...i don't care tho, i haven't had this much peace of mind since I was in my mother's womb
Have you listened to any MANOWAR cd's? There's at least one song on each of their cd's that's patriotic. Granted using 9/11 as a way to sell ur stuff is undoubtedly inmoral and unhonorable amoung other things, but I think "Ghost of Freedom" is a good song...maybe not for that band, but for the cd and Power Metal-wise it fits nicely.

Don't mind me...it's almost midnight and i'm just rambling on:)

I think most "Power Metal" is cheesey as hell. I've heard Manowar and I don't get the hype..I think they suck. I saw a video of theirs and I was laughing so hard by the time it was over I had tears streaming down my cheeks. I had to ask myself...are these guys serious???

As for Iced Earth..they have some good music..I have Something Wicked and I like that one..I also have Horror show and there's a few good songs on that one..I like Damian..unfortunately I think that was a complete waste of the greatest precussion section ever to be paired in the same band...Christy and Digiorgio! I mean..geez..bummer there!

As for bad cd purchases...I've liked everything I purchased this year...well...except for Spocks Beard, V. It's not a new release..but I just recently purchased it and I've only listened to it once...not too sure if I'll listen to it again..

Did I mention I saw Testament and Vio-Lence Friday night?? And it kicked my ass??!! I can die happy now:headbang:

I couldnt agree more with True Believer on Iced (Tea) Earth. I dont understand how Mr Schaffer is flying the american flag- most of his sales are overseas- his best crowds are overseas- and worst yet- just what the fuck has he contributed to America- has he gone to war? Is he part of gov? Does he volunteer somewhere? Or does he put out stale power metal- and use every riff over and over again?

Is Schaffer going for the dumb patriotic hillbilly crowd- or is he a hillbilly?

Ugh! Am I the only one who doesn't find Iced Earth to be power metal? Power metal is Manowar, Rhapsody, HammerFall..shit like that. Iced Earth is too heavy to be power metal.

I haven't bought any bad album this year :D

....In case you're wondering, I check songs out before buying an album :D

probably insomnium - in the halls of awaiting
its kinda of not what it was hyped upto be, its boring and repetitive and the singer, when he's trying to be mellow can't do the job.

but i've only just got it so, i'll listen to it more, i'll probably get into it \m/

dom

I'd have to say Satyricon's Volcano was the most dissapointing album I bought last year. It's not that it's a terrible album, but by far the weakest Satyricon album imo.

My best purchase was probably Immortal's Sons of Northen Darkness or Kansas' Monolith (obviously not a 2002 release :) )
