IN FLAMES: Back In Recording Mode

Sweden's IN FLAMES have entered a rented house/converted studio in Denmark to record the follow-up to 2002's "Reroute To Remain", tentatively due in early 2004. The CD, which is being produced by Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD) and Örjan Örnkloo (ex-MISERY LOVES CO.), will surface through Nuclear Blast Records in Europe, with whom the group have two albums remaining under the terms of their present contract. IN FLAMES are currently in negotiations with several labels about a possible North American record deal. More information will be made available soon.

Hopefully it'll be better than Reroute to Remain. I actually liked Clayman a lot though, but not nearly as much as their masterpiece, the jester race!

They went in the studio right after the US tour ended. Apparently they were writing material between gig or something. They approached the making of "Clayman" the same way...6 months of touring for "Colony" and then right into the studio. If this album is half of Clayman I'll be pumped...and so will the band because they'll probably get that North American record deal they're after.

IN FLAMES: Recording Update - Oct. 5, 2003

Sweden's IN FLAMES have posted the following update to their official web site:

"Hello all, some news regarding the current recording of the follow up to ['Reroute To Remain']. On Saturday the 27th of September we travelled to Denmark with 2 buses filled with studio equipment, and our personal instruments, etc to start what will be next year's IN FLAMES release, featuring Daniel Bergstrand [MESHUGGAH, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD] and Örjan Örnklo [ex-MISERY LOVES CO.] as producers.

"Everything looks great here: the equipment is hooked up and working well, five songs are done on rhythm guitar, and on Monday [October 6] we'll start laying down bass guitar, and then move on to vocals.

"We have two studios set up, one for guitar and electronics and one for bass and vocals, so the recording process is very smooth.

"For relaxation we have a fully equipped spa area with a sauna, a jacuzzi, a pool and a tanning bed, so whenever there is time for getting our acts together, we just go there....

"And to make things even better, we have our personal assistant Magnus with us and our chef — also named Magnus — so we get excellent food each day and some great assistance...

"Right now we have our magnificent webmaster Fredrik visiting, and some pictures will be uploaded soon to give u a small view on what we're doing, and we'll try to keep you updated more throughout this month, with pictures and info....

"We were also supposed to have some webcam pictures for you, but Fredrik got a little too much under his belt yesterday and couldn't understand the procedure, so maybe next time....

"Have fun and we'll talk soon, Jesper Daniel Anders Björn & Peter"

As previously reported, IN FLAMES' forthcoming CD will surface through Nuclear Blast Records in Europe, with whom the group have two albums remaining under the terms of their present contract. IN FLAMES are currently in negotiations with several labels about a possible North American record deal. More information will be made available soon.
