So I'm recording a band soonish, but unfortunately the mics that I was gonna get are out of stock for another 2 or 3 months, so I have no good overheads. I have a PG81 Puke though, so I was thinking of using that as a single overhead and then using 2 room mics to provide the stereo image. I'm doing it for free so I'm not hiring shit.
Anyway, reckon this'd work? Not metal, just rock.
What I'll be using:
K-Micro on toms, as room mics; PG81 as overhead; Sm57 on snare; Beta52 on snare.
Another thing I'll be trying cos I don't have the mic stands at the moment is TAPING the K-Micro's onto the toms. They're really small so it should work. Might not have much attack but if they're tuned well I think it could work. And if it doesn't at least I'll have an easy time replacing them.
