Solitary Refinement

The first few notes of new material are now being written and arranged. We think the best use of our time between now and our North American tour in late October is to write. It takes us a considerable amount of time to construct material we are personally satisfied with and writing on the road isn't an option for us. We want to begin the process now and pick it up after touring to avoid extreme delays before the next album. The first bit of material is still in it's infancy, so a description of what it sounds like wouldn't be accurate in the end.

Is it hard to put in the time and dedication to write new stuff when you're still presumably riding the high of the current album? Or are new ideas always there, bubbling under the surface?

There definitely isn't always new ideas ready to be picked anytime we want. The spurts of creativity certainly seem to arrive in waves. Very little output for a long time, then a short bursts of ideas. On and off.

The material on Dismantling Devotion feels pretty old to us already, since we were working on it quite a while before it was recorded.. and it was recorded last summer. So we're ready for new material and that's what we're spending our time on until we begin the tour this fall..

New material. Nice to hear it.

It is extremely interesting to me-HOW THE HELL YOU WRITE your music. If you were a classic heavy metal band-maybe it would be easy to write the classic riffs and sing about how the governmets sucks. BUT the music you create is a bit of a more complicated art. Do you really have this grey reality and unhappy life or are you great professionals?

How do you write in the bus:loco: Would be glad to know these things.
