A friend of mine is releasing a compilation album of songs submitted by a bunch of people, where each song is to be written, recorded, mixed, etc. from scratch in less than two hours. I figured I'd do my best to make a Slipknot-esque thing since it doesn't take much creativity haha :headbang: the guitar cuts at the beginning are pretty sloppy but because of the time constraint I didn't fix them, but I was wondering what you guys think of the tone I dialed in for this. Does it sit alright with the bass? And how's the mix for everything being done in two hours?

Thanks :loco:

I think the concept of writing, recording, mixing, etc. a song in a ridiculously short period of time is great, and can really help people with what seems to be the hardest part to making music: actually finishing stuff.

That said, I think your mix is waaaaaaaayyy too boomy, the bass is just a mush of clashing waves, and even the guitars alone contribute to it. I like the kick drum sound. It could sound so much better if the low end was controlled. Also, no vocals makes it sound incomplete, which gives the idea you kinda failed the "full song in 2 hours" test IMO.

I totally get what you're saying man, it happens to me all the time(not finishing songs).

hahaha I would have loved to add vocals, but I didn't have a mic nor would my own vocals add anything really. I mostly took this as an opportunity to work on mixing/mastering faster, as opposed to the composition part. thanks for the feedback though!
