WTF 2nd broken rme preamp..

i must be doing something wrong.

i bought an rme 800 last year and preamp 8 on the front broke suddenly as i was recording a trigger through it. all that went through it was noise, and that was with nothing plugged in. i sent it back and got a brand new one.

but it just happened again with pre amp 7 of the NEW one.

i had a nt5 with phantom power and the lead was broken, so it was clipping weird..

and now it does exactly what the last one did with preamp 8.

ideas?

it's happened before... im thinking it is me that is doing something wrong...

could too much clipping break a preamp?

I imagine maybe but surely they're built with such tolerances in mind and it wouldn't break that quickly

well it fuckin sucks. i paid about 100$ to send it back last time. and now its happened again.
