My first mix that I've asked for crit on here (from one of the old mix this threads)

I've given feedback for other people tracks before though so would appreciate some for this,

haven't really mixed metal before so hopefully it isn't too much of a disaster lol

Cheers

I'd say work on the drums first, maybe get some samples going on to make them cut through more and post it back up.

I don't know where to begin. Definitely spread the guitars out and try to make them less harsh. Refine the individual instruments and finally make a more balanced mix. Perhaps your best bet would be to go to my Myspace page and use the official mix for reference (the band really liked how it turned out)

Cheers man, atm I have x2 panned hard with the other x2 panned about 40 either way, you reckon they should all be panned hard? I shall try taking the high shelf down a touch to make them less harsh

If I remember correctly there were 4 tracks of guitars but in reality they were two takes recorded with two microphones. If you pan the wrong sets of guitars left and right they'll end up pretty much in the center, which I suspect has happened with your mix.Either use just one track per side (different takes!) or group them 2 by 2 again making sure there are not 2 tracks of the same performance panned left and right.
