1. i was the only person in my house to vote AGAINST "tard roommate"

2. previous crazy roommate i moved in with because i was homeless in boston for a month with one change of clothes and i found him randomly.

3. she-said-yes girl was placed with me! she was nice, she just had shitty taste.

okay shitty taste isn't a bad roommate trait. unless they want to decorate.

anyway, i love this painting above. i just stared at it for at least an hour last night without moving. it just fascinates me.

i dont think people our age give dali enough credit. his pictures are all over dorm room walls and people are like 'oh he's so passe!' but like, seriously the guy is very awesome indeed. apparitions of face and fruit dish on a beach (sic?) is really one of my favorites of his.

whoah, I've never seen that Dali painting. It's def not something I'd hang in my house, but it's still pretty darn cool.

I'm actually starting to think more about getting art in my house. I ditched posters awhile ago and it's about time to take the next step.

avi, if you have the time, sometimes you can find really nice paintings and stuff by people putting their own things on ebay. i got some really cool drawings one time and i love them. and they were only $10.

i had this dali book of postcards and each postcard came with a postcard-sized quick critique of the painting, so i would send one each day to a friend and read the critique. i learned a lot of dali that way--i ought to do it for other artists. and yes, he is really awesome.

yea avi, i noticed that some really awesome artists will do sketches and then sell those for extra $$ on the side on ebay and stuff. it's pretty neat. you kind of have to dig a little though, but it's worth it.

xfer, i have a book like that about de chirico actually. like, little snippets about his most bizarre stuff and what not. it was awesome to read it.
art books are unfortunately expensive though.

Art is expensive, unless you buy posters of paintings which I don't like one bit. I like try to find local yokels and buy their stuff. Of course there aren't many people doing anything interesting around here.

neat...i don't know anything about de chirico, really. i handle the art journals at work, like ARTFORUM and everything, so i get to look at all the cool new paintings and photography before i send them off, without having to pay mad bux.

also, i am still into posters. :)

yea i actually just sold this dude here in NYC five charcoal drawings of a girl for about $100. sucker! no but really, i mean, they're fun to do and look neat in very simple small frames.
