A lot of modern prog is coming in the form of bluegrass. Though it isn't my thing, some of the most amazing musicians and songwriters are modern bluegrass players.

I have been to a couple of bluegrass festival over the years and I have to tell you that these guys can give ANY guitar shredder a run for their money. In fact they might have an edge becuase they don't plug in and don't use any of the "toys" and "gadgets."
