Ok, Mr Horsley. As per our phone conversation; Here are two affordable mid-range drum kits that will offer some bang for the buck when it comes to tone. The bottom two stick closer to the buget and offer a good value for their asking price. The last one listed is right in the budget and comes with the most extras.

Maple kit This Gretsch maple kit comes with an extra drum, bringing the total up to 6 drums, but has no other extras. Maple is a prefered tone wood by many drummers.

Birch Kit This Sonor 5 piece kit also comes with a couple extras.
Bass pedal
Snare stand
2 boom cymbal stands and one hi-hat stand

Peal Birch kit no extras Slightly more affordable 5 piece Pearl kit. No extras, but has brand recognition.

Affordable drum set This Mapex drum set will not be manufactured with the higher grade woods, but will offer alot of bang for the buck while still meeting the financial budget.
