summary: I did my 2003 return, sent it to them with a check. they cashed the check. in the summer, when trying to get an apartment, I called the IRS for another copy of my return and they said it was NEVER SENT TO THEM. they did have the check though! so I had to do a whole nother return which was a huge problem and pay for expedited returning and all that.
well, I called the IRS for my 2004 AGI so I could file my 2005 taxes (I lost my electronic copy of my return in a crash)
AND THEY DID IT AGAIN!!!!
they didn't cash the check this time. clever bastards!
so now I have to re-file 2004 again, too, and pay them again! i switched banks so I dunno if they cashed this check or not--I'll have to pay for old bank statements and see.
those fucks! I have been trying to keep records, too, and this slipped through the cracks. two years in a row! and they're holding up my $3000 refund until I get this 2004 return done!
