You have to be at least *this intelligent* to sell phones...

So I finally upgraded my phone over the weekend. The girl assured me she can transfer everything over with no problem...

Well it was a BIG problem. She erased over 200 of my contacts in my phone list (off the SIM CARD which is the whole point of a SIM card... to just transfer that from phones. )

Anyway, if you could please shoot me an email/PM with your numbers on it that would be great... Or shoot me a text message if you have my number (still the same one I've had for 8 years...)

On a side note, if you get a text message from my cell number asking "Who is this?" or "Do you have X's number." Don't be offended...

Needless to say I'm very pissed about this, espeically when the only solution I get from them is "Well go through your call log and get the numbers off that..." Gee thanks.

Much love!

Thanks!

Yep, I had that happen to me once, too....switching phones and they erased the memory when copying to a new phone. :erk:

For this reason, I periodically update a text file on my 'puter with everyone's phone numbers. (Well, also 'cause you never know when you'll lose your phone somehow....)

My home computer is still out. The girl there asked, "Well don't you have them on your computer?" Well yeah, but my comptuer's got a trojan and now won't even turn on... What good is that going to do? Ugh.

Thanks for the emails and PM's and text's everyone... It's nice to get back to have a few numbers in my phone again.

I could probably help you with that over the interwebs. If it won't even power on, then a virus is the least of your problems. I'd say shoot me a PM, but they've never worked. Hit me on AIM or MSN (nailz1000, nailz1000@live.com) if you can, or shoot me an email. nailz1000 AT gmail DAWT com.

Most carriers now offer an option in which they will save your contacts daily in case that ever happens. I think I pay $2 a month or something like that for this service.

The whole family uses Verizon Wireless. VZW has a service that's $1.99/month (or FREE if you use their web-based account management service) called Backup Assistant. You install a small application on your phone from a choice of several apps availabile to Verizon Wireless customers. You do it all from your phone - no need to hook up the phone to your computer.

It backs up your phone contacts list on a regular basis, or you can manually backup or restore as you desire. It's a GREAT service when you get a new phone. Just do a manual backup before you get the new phone, and once you get the phone re-install BA and then do a restore.

The ONLY problem is that it is a pain in the ass to find it in the apps list (it's in a strange location IIRC), at least on the Motorola phones that I use. But once you get it running, you don't need to check it except when you want to make sure a new contact is added to the database.

It's saved me TONS of time to add new contacts to cell phones! :)

Luckily, I found out AFTER they deleted all my phone numbers that they offer that service for back up. For $1.99/month.

If I deleted all my contacts, it would be one thing, but it was one of their employees who's a cell phone "specialist". I should've known to stay away when this casper white girl was acting like J-Z was her best friend. I think it was her Star Spangled Banner acrylic nails that did my poor numbers in.

*Sigh* I'm still waiting to hear back from Radio Shack to see if they can get a hold of AT & T so they can pull my phone records from the last few months so that I can at least get some of my numbers back. It been a week now with a "I still haven't heard".

Tomorrow, MetalBitch comes out. That's not a pretty sight to see.

Ew... :p

How about a "backup plan"? ;)

You mean, Plan B?

I am about to upgrade phones next week, and I was planning on making a list of my contacts, but my list is not long at all though, maybe 30, and I maybe talk to 8 of them, hehe, I know nobody. I think I finally decided on the phone I am getting, I have t-mobile, and am probably going for the samsung behold.

LOL metalbitch... hahhahahah

I do have to say though, keeping a backup of all your contacts is a smart thing to do. =X

Luckily, I found I had an old list of contacts hand written on spiral paper... But I lost at least 50 phone numbers. Zak, Johnny Mac, people from The Agonist, Luna Mortis, Bella Morte, Elvenking etc. Numbers that I can't just email and ask them for you know?

I hope that they compensated you for screwing up like that. I would expect a month of free service at least, because losing contacts these days is everything and can completely mess you around.

Lol, just send Aydan and Damna a PM on their forum ;)

Hmm, whose number did you have from Bella Morte?

/me points at his phone. "Much like Ragu spaghetti sauce, it's in there."

--Or you could easily send 'em a message on MySpace.

I've noticed that my LG EnV has shite for text-message storage, but if there's a limit for the number of contacts and numbers to store, I haven't found it yet. :worship:

I had Andy's... I *think* I found it last night while going through some of my old booking stuff. But I'll let you know.

OMG! I'm such an idiot...

UPDATE:

As of today, I still have not heard of anything about what they can do to help me recover the other 125 phone numbers. Tomorrow I'm off to the store to become Mega MetalBitch... Nice only covers you a week. If I'm feeling nice.
