Hey there guys!
I'm a new participant in this forum...Greetings are welcome :)
Anywho, I'm currently picking up some metal ballads for a collection CD for my girlfriend (how romantic of me).

And I've been wondering: What is YOUR favorite metal ballad?
By ballad, I do not only mean the lyrics, but also the melody...
So tell me, boys and girls, which ballads make you cry on a cold winter night?

The ballad which truly makes me cry is Sonata Arctica's "Tallulah". I know it's kitchy, but I can really identify with the words, since I've had the same incident...

So, what's your favorite?

Nevermore - The Heart Collector
Symphony X - Candlelight Fantasia
Symphony X - Lady Of The Snow
Testament - Trail Of Tears
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters
Bon Jovi - Bed Of Roses (I don't care if it's metal or not, but this will certainly put her on the right mood, heh.)

Oh and btw, I should make clear that these ballads don't make me cry at all :D

I don't know why, but I always like really, really, really, really, really, really sad ballads.

I don't know if this song counts as a ballad or not, but Opeth's 'To Bid You Farewell' would be my pick.

I've never really had any kind of sympathy to Opeth... Their only ballad I found somewhat interesting was "Harvest".
I'll get some time to listen to the ballads you've all written here...

And I've listened to falling rain by Labyrinth - REALLY recommended :)

Any other recommendations, guys?

"Falling Rain" by Labyrinth
YES! One of the GREATEST SONGS EVER! Everything about it is perfect... those wonderful vocal melodies... that chorus... the guitar solos... wow

but seriously my absolute favorite ballad is....

Conception "silent crying"
"Silent Crying" is fantastic... Roy Khan really puts forth a heck of a vocal performance on that beautifully fragile song.
