Some of your favorite Anthems/Ballads

Sonata Arctica - Tallulah(not as much old school but it's a good ballad )
Hammerfall - Glory to the brave(read above)

These are some ballads that have been powerful to me. What other ballads do people here enjoy? I've always felt that metal is not complete without anthems, unless of course it's thrash/black/death/doom metal which wouldn't really work out as much with anthems and balladic pieces.

mmm, I wanted to start a thread a while ago; "Ballads or not"....I sometimes hate it when good up-tempo albums are interupted by a cheesy (damn, using this word too much lately) ballad.. So, I don't like ballads that much, there are some I like but they mostly are more a mix between metal and ballad....

Fantastic song. Mountain by Manowar, also great!
Ark - Missing You is another great and more recent ballad.
Those come to mind at this moment. Maybe more later.

O, and I love a good ballad. There have been too few lately. But then the art of writing good ballads has almost dissapeared, I think.

I can write ballads! but I don't have a band. I love ballads thats what got me into metal, I would go out and check out a good ballad and come out buying the cd for the rest of the metal songs.

Anthrax-Armed and dagerouse. This song only starts like a ballad, but can you blame Belladdona? he was in/into hair bands before joining Anthrax.
