Okays, I mailed a guy about it and he said it looked
alot like a Rebec....? I have never heard of it before...
But well, he has this site and the description for it goes
as followed;

Rebec – a Medieval European version of the rabab.

Rabab - short-necked fiddle from North Africa.
Used in classical Arabic music. It is also found in India,
the Middle East and Spain under different names.

I hope that helps you out a bit. Now, I could start
looking for other pics on a Rebec, but I'm too tired >P
