Your favorite solo by Murphy

argh! That has always been a tough question but I'm pretty sure it's something from his solo cd stuff. It just outshines anything I've heard him do with actuall bands. Testament's Trail of Tears solo part is amazing band-wise and just touches the soul but I think I'll have to go with the title track to Convergence. 1:27 to 1:41 .... 2:45 to 3:04 those are from the song Convergence ..... It just makes me wanna throw myself down a flight of stairs... goose bump alley!! AH! and even after so many years of it being out its the most refreshing fun sounding guitar leads I've ever heard. It's just superior to everything! Nobody could do that kind of playing but James. Also the middle part to Epoch is one my favs as well, right during the wild ride. 4:40 to 5:40 ... one minute of calculated magic. Then there is Contagion ... 4:08 to 4:55 .. for crying out loud , James. Why must you be so billy bad ass on that? I don't mean to get personal and I mean no harm but things like that make me not wonder so much about how you got sick... it sure the fuck isn't cell phones. You're to good to go out like that. I believe it's just your gift is to advanced for our human stage of evolution. It's just to beyond the here and now. It is 46 & 2 without being 46 & 2 (Bob Frissell -Nothing in This Book Is True, but It's Exactly How Things Are) ... I mean fuck. I had to find god, get high on weed and grow my hair long just to understand half the shit in your playing and you were sober the whole time while doing that. what the sam hell!?!? I know. I know. Some people will say its only music but it's way more significant to humanity than that.

Contagion off of the Convergence album. It's so cool and the picking's so percussive it's insane. It's one of those solos that stop you from headbanging for a second to hear exactly what's going on.

::still waiting on the third JM solo album::

Solo on the legacy on the acoustic versions of testaments ballads at the end of live at fillmore

trail of tears

convergence

touching the earth

defensive personalities

memory remains

crown of the empire(khnonkra shit is underrated, james shredded this cd!)

inoculated life

soul erosion

TRAIL OF TEARS !!! It was this solo who made me grab the booklet and check who the guitarplayer was ... later I bought the Solo CD's of this MR. James Murphy ... And the rest is history ....

I already said what mine were but yeah that Trail of tears solo was pretty much what got me interested in JM's guitar playing. I remember back in the day my cousin bringing that Low disc over and we popped it into the PC to play some Quake 1 over the internet. each level plays whatever track on the cd over and over and I remember trail of tears being on one of the levels and eventually we both said. I think we heard this song about 80 times by now and we still haven't gotten tired of it. LOL . After that I bought the solo cds and a few others that he appeared on.

Ah the good ol days.

Thank you all for all the really nice things you have said about my solos and songs. It is really a good feeling to know that people were touched by my playing in some way because i definitely feel every note i play on those albums.

on the subjest of favorite solos, i have always been partial to one of the solos i did on the Explorer's club "Age of Impact" CD, from the song entitled "Time Enough". You can check out an mp3 of it at my website: The Official JM website sounds page.
Thanks!!
