Your go-to Limiter

FG-X.

I only aim for 10 dB RMS and turning the limiter on / off with volume compensation, I honestly cannot hear a difference, and 10 dB RMS is plenty loud. Since getting VBC, the drums hit it punchy as fck so I don't need to play around with any of the transient stuff.

I think going for 8 dB and 6 dB RMS is a Rick Rubin level of silly, and that's where people run into trouble with trying to find the holy grain of limiters - they're just squashing everything too hard yet expect a result as clean and punchy as the initial mix down.

I can't wait for AirEQ to finally drop as I have high hopes for that to be the final link in my mastering chain.

So... I tested the heck out of Pro-L and finally decided it just wasn't the right tool for me. FG-X is still going to be my go-to limiter for now until FG-X 2 is released. Come on Steven!

Thanks for all your recommendations guys!

I used the L3 16 for a while, but now almost exclusively Pro-L. Tried Ozone and Fg-X but none of them seem to work as good as Fabfilter's limiter. Wanna give the Invisible Limiter a try though.
