Youre favorite fighter..........

Yes...It's pathetic and sad!! Especially when two out of the three heavyweight champions are european...It's an absolute joke!!

Then you have Roy Jones Jr. who was the best fighter pound for pound and he can't even beat Antonio Tarver.....ANTONIO FREAKING TARVER!!! The guys all mouth and has about as much talent a boxer with no arms..It's just sad!! The whole sport has gone to hell!!

Also, is anyone else disappointed about the state of boxing? And what happened to K1 coverage? Im a big fight fan, but its hard to find anything to watch but ESPN classic fights of Sugar Ray Robinson (the best fighter ever), Frazier, Marciano, etc.

I couldn't agree more. Pride is waaaay better. But did you miss when Liddell got beaten by 'Rampage' Jackson (I think it was last year?)? Which speaks volumes as to the quality of fighters in Pride
The fight was two years ago and it is a poor argument trying make Pride fighters sound better. Shogun who everyone thinks is number one now lost to Babalu around the same time Chuck lost to Rampage. Chuck knocked out Babalu when they fought.

Rampage has not looked so great lately and Wanderlei Silva has not been himself. Chuck on the other hand has won his past 5 matches in dominating fashion.

I wish more UFC fans were aware that there are other MMA organizations out there. The Pride Fighting Championship is definitely the premiere fighting organization out there. Both in talent and in the way the shows are presented. Both organizations have fighters who have no right being there, but I think all around, Pride has the better fighters. Especially in the heavyweight division. I think Arlovski and Sylvia would be beaten by any of Pride's top 5 heavyweights. Arlovski has great standup, but the guy just doesn't have a chin. Imagine him taking a high left kick from Cro Cop. Or if Fedor were to get in Arlovski's guard, I don't think Andrei would be able to take the kind of shots that Nogueira took from Fedor. Anyway, my favorite fighters:

Mirko Cro Cop
Wanderlei Silva
Fedor Emelianenko
Igor Vovchanchyn
Rich Franklin
Genki Sudo
Sergei Kharitonov
Shogun
Andrei Arlovski
BJ Penn

Probably the most anticipated fight in MMA history would be between Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva. They had a chance to fight in the 2003 Pride Middleweight tournament, but Liddell got his ass handed to him by Rampage, who then proceeded to receiver 20+ by Wanderlei Silva later in the night. I think if these two were to fight a few years ago, Wanderlei would be too overwhelming for Chuck. Especially if they fought under Pride rules, allowing knees and kicks to the head of a downed opponent. But in Silva's last couple fights, he hasn't seemed as aggressive for whatever reason. I think if the fight happened in the octagon, Chuck Liddell may pull it out. But in the Pride ring, I think Silva would win.

Rampage beat Chuck in the MW Grand Prix in '03. Chuck seems to want to fight Silva badly, sad thing is, he had his chance in '03, he just wasn't good enough.

Shogun lost to Sobral? Yeah, but barely. Chuck got his ass dominated by Rampage. Huge difference. Getting caught in a guillotine and getting yourself beaten on the bottom until your corner throws in the towel... no comparison.

Obsolete?? Ask any MMA fighter who their last multi million dollar fighter was?? That stuff though great will NEVER surpass boxing in popularity the world over!!

Boxing is obsolete (or well on its way), in my opinion. With the advent of MMA, it's pointless.

Shogun did not barely lose to Sobral it was clear cut win for Babalu. Babalu fought Trevor Prangley, before fighting Shogun, then went on to fight and beat Jeremy Horn. Shogun fought, Eric Wanderlei before fighting Babalu big difference in competition.

Chuck vs. Rampage was three years ago. Rampage looks horrible now he could not even finish Dong Sik Yoon, someone that Kazushi Sakuraba knocked out with one punch. While Chuck Liddell has went on to knock people out that no one else has. Chuck Liddell has never lost a rematch if Chuck fought Rampage again I would put money on the Iceman.

Shogun was owning Sobral until he got caught in the choke, dude. I have all of Shogun's fights on my computer.

Chuck probably would beat Rampage if they fought again. I'd hope not, because I dislike Chuck. Rampage going the distance with Sik was just laughable. I noticed that in the Chute Boxe vs. Hammerhouse video that I have, Jackson looked the least afraid of all the guys, which is ironic, since Jackson is the only one of the bunch who's been brutally KO'd by Silva twice.

Boxing is dead man. Its a joke, and its dead.

Boxing is nowhere near dead. Other than the pretty shitty heavyweight division, boxing is doing very well. Most MMA fans use the typical "I was a boxing fan until I saw the UFC" reason for not liking boxing. MMA will never completely take over boxing. From what I've noticed, the majority of MMA fans are very young and have had minimal exposure to boxing. But if you actually watch it, you'll quickly notice how most MMA fighters have unbelievably poor boxing skills compared to professional boxers. A guy like Chuck Liddell, with his awkward, looping punches, would be totally overwhelmed by a decent boxer in his weight class. Of course, the boxer would likely be beat fairly easily in an MMA match, but I think the boxer would have the better chance of crossing over into MMA than the other way around.

And the most exciting MMA fight doesn't even come close to the most exciting boxing match. Gatti/Ward I, II, and III and Corrales/Castillo I and II are examples of boxing matches that are vastly more entertaining than any MMA fight. You just don't get the long wars in MMA that you get in boxing. With the small gloves, it's one clean shot and that's it. I love both MMA and boxing, but it annoys me when MMA fans bash boxing.

Theres been a serious drop in talent in boxing. Sure the middleweights are really good right now, but thats it.

I agree with you that a MMA fighter would get totally annhilated by a below average boxer, if they boxed; and if the boxer had any way of staying up, he'd have a chance of winning a MMA fight. I was flipping channels, and Fox Sports had that amazing Japanese middleweight Pride fighter, and Oscar De LA Hoya on at the same time. And the Japanese guy admitted Oscar would easily beat him with one hand if they were using boxing rules.

That Japanese fighter was Takanori Gomi Pride's Lightweight champion. There is no argument that boxer's would beat MMA fighters in a boxing match but in an MMA match a boxer with no other skills would lose.

Don't forget about....Hagler/Hearns (Best 3 rounds in boxing)
Holyfield/Bowe 2 (Minus "Fan man")
Chavez/Taylor
Gonzalez/Carbajal (1,2 & 3)

And on a lesser scale Hometown boy "Lightning Edwin Santana/Ben Tackie
(Awesome fight up until the end....)

And there's SO many, many more!!

An MMA fighter using only boxing skills against a boxer would get schooled, of course.

I certainly don't agree that the most exciting boxing match is more exciting than the most exciting MMA fight.
