YouTube vs. John McCain

They have laws and shit they are supposed to follow, and activists have just gotten lazier since the 70's anyway. And even if we miraculously utilized and integrated 20 different new kinds of energy into the existing system, it wouldn't be enough to replace the energy consumption from oil we currently have. The point is that we have to start making sacrifices and DRASTICALLY changing the way we live our lives and henceforth the amount of energy we all consume.

But, that's not going to happen. People (and not just Americans) aren't willing to lower their quality of life standards, so basically we're fucked.

Don't worry J., Obama still has a great chance of winning because of smart people like this:

I am worried because I don't want Obama either.

I rather pay $7 a gallon than to infringe upon the last remaining eco-systems that have any semblance of natural order. Everyone's bitching like they don't have a dollar to spare. Eat out one less time a week, cut back on one extra cd, shop at JC Penney's instead of Jcrew, take some responsibility for being a part of a fucked up species.

an extra dollar? when I was in college just 9 years ago, I could fill up an F-150 for $20. It would cost at least $80 to fill up that thing now.

an extra dollar=a 300% increase?

That's fine. But to be fair though, the implication of your original post was that McCain might win because so many idiots/trailer trash are likely voting for him. I was simply trying to sarcastically illustrate that there are idiots/trash on all sides, just as there are honorable, noble & educated people on all sides.

No one is going to "lower" gas prices. It's an economic issue. Don't like how much gas costs? Stop using it.

You hit the nail right on the head, no candidate is going to be to do anything but provide a temporary fix. The best policy any candidate can have is to place top priority on alternative fuel sources.

En Vind Av Sorg also had a great point about the well simply drying up one day anyway no matter how much we drill, so whether it's due to pricing (and make no mistake folks, OPEC is the real enemy when it comes to oil prices) or whether it's due to the limited natural resource, alternative fuel research should be given as much funding as possible.

This is another point, you see all these politicians (its happening here in germany too), offering gas price breaks to win votes, (so the goverment loses billions, and we save 10-20 bucks).

In reality, they should charge us 50 dollars more, put in feasible inexpensive mass transit and we can save 200 dollars on gas. But people are too short sighted to understand that. They see "Damm Guvvnit takin' 50 bucks from meh", and don't realise "I can takes me them thar train and leeev me guzzler a t home and saves me some cash".

They also find driving, driving way too fast (inefficient) and driving when they could get there by train faster, fun.

Bah, the world is fucked lads, drink up while you can.

If we don't get a democrat in the White House next January, I think my wife and I are going to look to move out of the country (in her current role, it should be very easy for us to do so). I'm not saying that for dramatic effect or in a "take my ball and go home" sort of way. While I don't think McCain is a horrible person, I view this next election as very symbolic. And while I think it's unfair to refer to McCain as "McSame", I do think the choice between Obama and McCain is a choice between change and staying the course. It's hard to look at where this country is today and deny we're off course. And where it counts most, McCain doesn't have any plans to change the course the current administration has put us on. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Obama's message of hope will change the world. And I don't think, by any means, he's a perfect candidate. I just believe, when we go to the polls in November, we'll be choosing between staying the course or trying to change. And if we're not interested in changing, if only symbolically, I view it as the final nail in the coffin.

I think I'm ready to do that no matter who goes into office... Personally, I don't want to have any part in the process of fixing this nations multi-trillion dollar debt when the government finally gets to the stage of attempting to fix it (you know, after we finally pull our heads out of our asses as this country enters "The Greater Depression".)

Luckily for our wonderful stock brokers, we now have much higher buildings that'll guarantee an instant death upon landing on the cemented surface below.

Dubai is looking pretty nice now...

That's pretty much it. I believe catastrophe is right around the corner, and will probably look to leave even if Obama is elected. However, with an Obama presidency, I'll take a wait and see approach.
