I would say a boost is needed like with every other amp that does metal. I'm doing a playthrough video with the amp where I play it with and without a boost. Probably putting it up tomorrow.
Nice tone, those little Blackstars are all badass. I got an HT1 last week, even with just the one tone control (ISF), it's sweet. I definitely recommend using a boost in front like Ola said.
