Cheers and Jeers IX

Okay. We CAN'T enjoy a smoke with our drink in the Center Stage lounge area ANYMORE.

You CAN'T take a drink outside to enjoy with your smoke....

Vinyl IS the designated smoking area where we CAN enjoy a smoke, a drink, socialize with friends that we usually only see once a year, talk as loud as we want, and eat, yet the past two years we've gotten complaints from the vendors because of the smoking/drinking/partying in Vinyl.

So tell me: Where do we smokers get to smoke, socialize, and drink with our buddies all at the same time without complaints??????

This IS a metal fest, is it not?????

This is an awesome attempt at keeping all those that smoke alive for an extra 8 minutes each time they are unable to smoke. We like you, therefore we're trying to keep you from slowly killing yourself Kathy. and in all reality you take a few seconds of talking away from you and your buddies each time you lift the cigarette to take that nicotine/poison enhanced hit. So it helps the social time.

:p just teasin.

Thanks, Patrick, for looking out for my well being.... :) :Smokin:

I'd be a liar if I said I didn't hate the smoke in Vinyl Saturday night, but I realized I *was* sitting in a bar (next to Bryant no less) and kept my mouth shut (for once :p). And waved it away from me when Bryant wasn't looking. lol

just being a good friend! much love to you and James! :headbang:

there is another definite Cheer

JAMES AND KATHY for being the most supportive couple of my band from the crowd that I know at progpower!

Awwwwwwww!!!!! You know we love you, too, and we will continue to be your biggest supporters!!!! You guys were killer Wednesday night!!!!

BTW, I heard a lot of people in the crowd saying the same thing!!!! I think you guys really surprised a ton of people that had never seen you before...:headbang::kickass:

Well, thanks for that, Shaye.... At least someone realizes it "is" a bar!! :kickass:

Cheers:
Riverside.....especially the Riverside sound guy.
Availability of bands members in general.....Not usually big on meeting the bands, but talking to the Riverside bass player at length in the lobby was very cool.
Iced Earth... why I have not really got into this band before is beyond me. Barlow owns the stage when he's out there...just awesome.
The bartenders in general, but especially Amelia(?) the extremely cute bartender.
All the bands kicking ass....even the one I didn't like much. It's rare that I don't get to say "these guys are f*cking awful" at least more than once.
Better overall sound this year as opposed to the past years.
Vendors are always great, helpful, etc.
Flying instead of driving from Chicago....cheers to AirTran for ontime service. And first time on the Marta....so cheap and easy.
Not getting the PP bug....yet.

Jeers:
Wireless mics....are they really worth all the trouble to not work...again and again?
Elvenking and Iced Earth...same as DarkOne said above.
Expensive beer....and me paying for it.
Shitty turkey sandwiches from Kroger....but I sold one at the end of Friday night to make up for it! Sorry to whomever bought it....
Ice machine not working at the Super 8.
Having to miss some of JOP because of....well....let's just say that 2 El Azteca lunches wanted out. Thank God the Granada is only a block away...

Well, since Patrick is only looking out for everyone's well being, perhaps we should bring up Patrick's new hair style. You've gone from looking like Matt Hardy to Jeff Hardy. I mean, no offense at all intended, it's just that color scheme makes Emo kids look cool. I'm only saying this out of love and the utmost respect, but I think your hair *might* be doing more damage than a little cigarette smoke. :Smokin:

glad you like it bro.

If it wasn't for you, Bryant, Greg, Paula, and a few others hanging in Vinyl all the time I wouldn't set foot in there during Prog Power. Well maybe I would for a quick bite to eat, but I don't tolerate the cigarette smoke well at all.

Believe me Delicate Flower, it wasn't from not trying. I checked with all suppliers... no one had any. At least it looks like the band had some. :headbang:

i meant no disrespect to you..you were quite the gentleman :)....in all honesty, i wanted to wait until after their set to see if i liked them as much as i thought i was going to...and i did....i looked everywhere for the shirt (i thought i heard the guy selling the iced earth shirts who was next to the one selling the elvenking shirts say that he was selling the long sleeved ones) i could be wrong....

o well...........i snoozed and loozed....i won't give up finding one though...thedelicateflower is on a mission!.... :)

I would imagine we'll eventually get something lined up with the band. They seemed appreciative we were a sponsor, so hopefully things will come together. Thanx.

In response to the wireless mic thing, we only had one real problem with them. Some interference causing it to cut out, so they hooked up antenna extenders (paddles as they referred to them) and that went away.

HOWEVER, the mic cutting out on Elvenking was NOT batteries that died, he hit the switch by mistake! I traded mics with him and gave it to the monitor guy. He checked it out and it was turned off. BTW, we were replacing the batteries before every set.

Be glad the show wasn't in a state where smoking in any public building is illegal. And be glad that GA hasn't gone that route yet, though I personally hope they do soon since I'm allergic to tobacco.

When New York did it, all the smokers and bar owner complained. Business increased. When I moved to AZ, and THEY did it, same story exactly. I hope all 50 states eventually move to this scenerio. It's so strange to see people smoking inside. :ill::zombie:
