how would you pan a trio?
What would your approach be for panning on an instrumental trio? Think of something similar to Jeff Beck type instrumentals, but it's just bass, guitar and drums. Everything in the middle doesn't have enough stereo spread. Bass off to the side never sounded right to me. Bass and drums... -

if you had to choose between a Dual Recto or 6505+, what would it be?
My vote is for the Recto. It's a more versatile amp, IMHO. I went from a MKIV to a Recto. Owned a 5150 for about a year at the same time as the Recto. I ended up selling the 5150. YMMV. -

Distance between wall and Monitors
FWIW, Keep in mind that some speakers are designed differently. For example, some have a port on the back of the speaker enclosure and use the wall to reflect/reinforce bass frequencies. Others have the port on the front. I suppose it would be best to use the manufacturers recommendations for... -

Speakers Break In test
Agreed. 8 hours isn't much... Agreed, again. Avatar runs their break in process for 15 hours, FWIW. Even then, I suspect the speakers are just starting to loosen up. -

New tubes for my 6505
Another vote for Chinese preamp tubes (Ruby/Penta/whatever 12AX7A's). For power section Ruby 6L6GC MSTR. (Got mine from Doug's tubes.) The Ruby 6L6's will be a tad more aggressive than the Winged =C=. -

Amp bias question
As tubes "burn in", they can drift a little. That's why many of the good tube suppliers will burn them in first, then measure them to match them up in a matched set. Even if they are a burned in, and matched as a set, they can still drift a bit over time. 4 mA should not be a big deal...
