    Late 2011 MacBook pro dropouts

Being that it's an i7, the display you're reading from may differ than from what's really happening. The i7 "overclocks" itself to match needed computer processing power. So, the information you're interpreting as an overload should be being processed just fine. Does it notably slow down your...

Also // If I'm more comfortable in Logic (I use ProTools at uni, however) can I still get a lot from this book?

Best guitar for Direct Input Recording?

Hey! the question is as the title says haha. I have an ibanez art 100 that quite frankly is really muddy when recorded, no matter what tone I use or what setup I use for the DI. I've had professional engineers try to mix with it, and they say the signal is just too muddy to get any real...

Reaper seems to be free...? That's pretty cool. I use Logic, but I may have to check this out.

    Hardcore mix.

The mix is really done well. Levels seem to be perfect for my personal preference, however the guitars seem a little muddy to me. Maybe a boost in some higher frequencies?

Using Slate Drums with an Electric Kit (Alesis DM6)

Ahh I know in the Slate plugin window there's a way to change midi mappings but I'm just wondering if there's a way to change it in corrolation to the set itself. It would be annoying telling a drummer "okay the snare is actually a ride" or something weird like that lol

I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel... (Guitar tones with impulses/LePou)

So this is a thread so I can express my satisfaction. This may sound weird, but as a wanna-be recording artist and engineer, I've been running around in circles trying to figure out just what made my guitars sound so bad once recorded direct input, minus the fact that they're well... direct...

*dun dun dun* Recording DRUMS with Triggers and Midi!

Hey all! So here's the deal. I just got my first piece of equipment to be taken seriously, and that's the Saffire Pro 40 interface. So now I can record guitars/vocals much better, but there's one thing left, and that's drums. Now, I'm not super experienced in mic'ing a drum kit, nor do I...
