    ddrum trigger cables

someone over here had some mistriggering with the ddrum snare trigger, when i remember correctly. well, i use a tom trigger for the snare because of this "2-zone" thing, but never tried the snare trigger - don't have the balls for it . just use an ordinary mic cable and go straight in...

    Mixing bigger bands....

editing vocal breaths should not be part of the recording engineer !!!! even string noise should be kept till the very end (mixing process). it all depends on the style of the band, but mixing a rock'n roll band the way they'd like it when everything is clean as hell might be an issue. if...

SNARE thread - EQ, compression etc...

i do a lot of grouping/bussing with more extreme settings. i normally have my "dry snare group" set up with just a bit of expander/eq/comp. from there i create some more prl. groups/busses with everything i need for a modern sounding snare: prl. compression group prl. transient group...

Heavy-hitter DI shootout! Also, my best Recto tone yet!

glad to hear that they are all working good! i think the differences in sound are more a matter of performance than the boxes themself. thx for the test.

Mixing Bass.... Where to Roll off?!?

wow, that are some secrets of mixing, i wish noone here would have ever mentioned. what about the 'low mid mud' problem of a daw in general? are you serious? and a dip at 300 hz on the whole mix sounds not like a cool idea for me. don't want to offend anyone here, but this statement is...

    Compressing kick

a chain that works for me: expander - eq - limiter - eq - compressor the limiter for the consistant level and the compressor for waveshaping - slow attack, fast release

All right dudes, what new gear are you getting for christmas?

yeah, that was my last years gift for me. wonder how you'll like it. maybe post some samples in the near future. i haven't managed to get a heavy tone out of it - for punk and alternative it is really cool, but for heavier stuff all my clients say that it's not their cup of tea.

    Mic selection help?? please

referring to your suggestion of the 990: this is funny, because mxl puts a 'sdc' capsule in a different body and noone tells you, that you just have a sdc in a ldc boddy. nobody would try a sdc for singing, screaming in a metal context, right?! but remember, there are no rules...

    Audix i5 extremely hot?

maybe it's the motu pres? don't know them, but turning the button all way down doesn't mean, that you don't have the gain working. a lot of preamps start with a gain of 20 dB or something and don't have a pad. check your manual and/or get another pre.

Can someone ID these Shure Overheads for me?

naa, 100 bucks i way too much for these mics. the only reason why i still have mine is that i'm too lazy to sell something for nearly nothing. there will be a situation, where i really need these mics, i'm quite confident :goggly: one day there will be a band, that want exactly 'that' 90's...
