    DAW hard drive partitions

I'm in the middle of setting up a new computer to be a dedicated DAW and I'm having a hard time deciding what I should do as far as hard drive partitions. I'm hoping someone here can help me out. I've read a lot of articles, but I just can't decide. A good one was at...

    Reaper Bug?

For problem one, you might try going to Preferences and on the Playback tab under Audio uncheck Run FX when stopped. I usually do this while editing drums. I have no trouble making thousands of edits to an 8 minute song. When I have Run FX checked, I will start to experience your problem.

How many of you guys do this to save CPU?

I really hope this is a feature in Reaper 4. I know there are macros for Reaper 3 out there, but I've never had much luck with them. I hate having to render a stem track that takes 5 minutes and needing to do it multiple times. Way too time consuming. I used to use Adobe Audition (yuck) and...

    Behringer noise gate

I have it and 6 other Behringer pedals. Just for fun as I don't play live and if I did I wouldn't use stuff like Vibrato or fuzz. Don't see dropping big bucks on pedals; live it's just amp, tubescreamer and gate. I've had them for several months with no issues. All of my Boss pedals (8 of them)...

    Tempo Mapping for Bands

This is also what I normally do to some extent. Find the tempo for say verse, scratch track it until tempo changes, then find new tempo and repeat. I'm not necessarily trying to get them to do it, although it would be nice. Some want to do it, but don't know an easy way to go about doing so.

    Tempo Mapping for Bands

I've had a few try that, rarely do any of the tempos they come up with actually match what it was supposed to be. So many of them are totally clueless when it comes to this stuff. If at all possible, work with both. Whenever I've mapped the tempos with only the guitar player, the drummer...

    Tempo Mapping for Bands

What program could I suggest to bands to map out the tempos and time signatures to their songs before they actually record? Is there anything free and reasonably easy to use? I would love to just suggest that they use a trial version of Reaper and then get me the session files, but that...

    Recabinet 3

Ya, I'm wondering about that and the whole is it on the grill, half inch off, 1 inch off, 6 inches off, etc.

Will I blow up my Krank if I...

I'm no expert, but I'd swear I've read about guys running the preamp/send from one amp into another amps return. Basically you'd be using the preamp from the XXX going through the power amp of the Krank. You'd still need a load on the XXX, so it'd be plugged into a cab, but have the master...

    Setting up click track(basics)... Help?

Easiest way, have the guitarist play the first riff and tap out that tempo. Start recording a scratch guitar to that tempo until the tempo changes. Repeat at the new change area. Have the drummer be there to tap along to make sure everything feels right to him. Shouldn't take much more time than...

    Reaper Pre-recording buffer

As mentioned, it indeed does have it. I always use time selection auto punch. Not limited to some set preroll buffer, however far back you hit play you've got recorded.

What do you think? Diezel Herbert

Thanks for the feedback guys!. I made a few changes in levels, mostly brought the drums down a pinch and the snare a little more so. I'm trying not to go too drastic with my changes and overcompensate. Updated mix here. Slammer, I mixed and mastered this.

What do you think? Diezel Herbert

Thanks for listening, I updated the mix here. I dropped another 1.5 db in the mids area I think on the guitars. Comparing the two doesn't seem to make a difference. I did feel like there was a lack of bass in the mix. Having a hard time getting that big low end. New mix has a lot more I...

What do you think? Diezel Herbert

The band uses 7 strings tuned down to F standard and a 5 strings bass tuned down to F standard. I've never worked with anything this low. I also don't think I've ever worked with a band playing at 250bpm. Guitars are a TS7 into a Diezel Herbert into Mesa cab loaded with V30s and miced with a...
