The song was recorded at home, but mixed in my dorm room using Sony Headphones. I've had the impression the impression that the headphones were boomy before. I'll try to see if I can borrow some decent reference monitors.
Updated. I don't know why, but whenever I listen to a track before exporting it 2 or 3 times, it sounds good to my ears, but after it's been mixed down and exported, I start to notice all the flaws. Be it timing, limiting, inaccuracy.
Anyway...
... sounds like poo.
I'm fairly new at this, so I'd like to hear EVERYTHING you have to say about what's right (ahem) and wrong with my tone. This has been done purely with VST's. Bass track was done with a bass and not a VSTi.

Take 2...
This song wa learned (by ear) and recorded over 3 days, so i know its not perfect, but 95% is exagerated isn't it ?
Either way, playing aside, what are your opinions on the guitar tone and the drums ?
Yeah Bass VSTi's never did the job for me. I've got an Ibanez Bass with EMG's, just didn't summon enough energy to record it. I'll give it a shot.
Chui de Montreal aussi en passant ;) a l'universite de Montreal (Polytechnique plutot)
Done purely with VSTs and impulses (cheers Ryan)
I'm an amateur, never worked at a studio or anything like that.
How do I improve it ?
I know the Hi-Hat needs to be changed, so I'll work on it.

Hello,
Recently moved to a new house, in which my acoustic recordings sound, well, not as good as they did in my old apartment.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone on the forum has a D-Tar Mamabear or Fishman Aura, so we could try and make an IR out of it (I know some guys on the Axe-FX forum...
Here's a small sample
You can tell that the Lead part blows. And the rhythm isn't perfect but I'm just a rookie :>

Hello,
Well I've seen a billion threads about Rhythm Guitar tones, but few about lead guitar. I'll keep this simple.
- Do you use the same Miking technique on your Lead tracks ?
- How do you pan the lead tracks and solos ? (If there are harmonized parts, or just a single lead track)
