... sounds like poo.
I'm fairly new at this, so I'd like to hear EVERYTHING you have to say about what's right (ahem) and wrong with my tone. This has been done purely with VST's. Bass track was done with a bass and not a VSTi.

Take 2:

Basically it's:

Guitar 1 ---> TSE808 ---> Podfarm Insane ---> LeCab (100%R ASEM, 85%R orange_2)

Guitar 2 ---> TSE808 ---> Podfarm Insane ---> LeCab (100%L ASEM, 85%L orange_2)

Drums were made using TMF with aptrigga on the snare.

Thanks in advance,
DF

You gotta raise the guitars' volume quite a bit and lower the bass a bit too. Guitars seem a bit overgained and lacking in low mids and/or bass. Bass sounds flat and a bit boring, if I were you I'd duplicate the track, low pass one and limit it or compress it really hard, duplicate the other one, high pass it and use distortion on it.

Try mixing with a track you like as reference or if you need help knowing how each element should sound you could try to (cough)acquire(cough) guitar hero/rock band stem files (which you should not share and use for educational purposes only) to see how each individual element interacts in the mix. Also, switching to mono a few times during mixing sometimes really helps to get a nice balance, I remember when I was starting out I would do this a lot.
