    Ulver's Folk Masterpiece

As a work of art the 3rd album in the "Trilogie," "Nattens Madrigal," is probably the most impressive. It's somewhat painful, but any good art about the "wolf" in man shouldn't be an easy listen. My favorite of theirs is "Themes from William Blake's...", though.

Enslaved...The Pink Floyd Of Nowegian Metal?

All of it is brilliant and highly enjoyable if you have an appreciation for the particular style.

How do you explain this Asgeir?

red triangle slope=3/8=.375 blue triangle slope=2/5=.4 the slight difference is definitely visible and accounts for the empty space. What someone else said about the hypotenuse of the triangle formed by all 4 pieces not being straight is true. Notice how the top triangle's hypotenuse intersects...

    Most depressing song you know?

Pantheist's "O Solitude" isn't so much sad as it is an inducer of clinical depression. It's a much darker CD than their new one is. I'm not a fan of funeral doom, but I like this.

    Emperor's Return

Personally, (and I know this is heresy) I'd prefer Ihsahn spend his time working on the next Peccatum CD. I imagine I'll be hung, drawn, and quartered for saying this, though.

Enslaved...The Pink Floyd Of Nowegian Metal?

Among the bands that stayed "extreme" they are definitely my favorite from Norway. I prefer Ulver and Solefald, though, for the sheer brilliance of their music.

Garm's involvement in the new Solefald disc

He's on "Black for Death", the second part of the Icelandic Epic.

    AoS - Complications

I've had it for a week or two, sorry I didn't check the forum sooner. Honestly I'm a bit dissapointed. I wasn't a huge AoS fan to begin with (I personally think that Lazare's unique vocal style tends to work best when counter-balanced, such as in Solefald), but I loved the frequent and superb...

finally, some good music coming my way!

Both Scholomance CDs are amazing. It's a tragedy that this band broke up. If anyone has any news on projects by the former members it would be much appreciated. The new Solefald ("Red for Fire") is absolutely incredible. Check it out! I'll be stunned if you don't love it.

    SOLEFALD's New Album!

Finally got ahold of it, and much of it still needs time to sink in. "Sun I Call," though, already warrants being called the coolest song ever. Why don't they use the sax more!?!?!?! It always sounds so incredible when they use it. It'll take a while before I figure out how it stacks up compared...

finally, some good music coming my way!

I actually found it a bit disapointing. There are a few incredible tracks (particularly 2,6,9), but there are also several that strike me as somewhat uninspired. It's also more of a holding pattern in terms of progression than I've come to expect from Arcturus. Musically it seems like it would...

    SOLEFALD's New Album!

These are very comforting words to hear about a Solefald album. My biggest concern about this album was that they would oversimplify in a reaction to their previous experimentalism. Thanks for the details karpsmom. I was also worried that they might have cut a ~70 minute album into two short ones.

Top 5 Drummers of all time

I'm stunned that it took until post #74 for someone to mention the might Jan Axel Von Bloomberg. He (Listen to Mayhem's Grand Declaration of War if you have doubts), Trym, and Tino LoSicco (Epoch of Unlight) are definitely the three best metal drummers I've ever heard.

    SOLEFALD's New Album!

Thanks. Is there any similarity to/overlap with the Sturmgeist CD? Also, how long is it? For whatever reason I'm always curious about that.

    SOLEFALD's New Album!

Dammit karpsmom! We're waiting for news! Us Solefald fans get very upset when teased like that! Actually I'm just jealous, and I'd love any scraps of info you'd like to throw my way.
